Thanks, do you know if the Refer a Friend works the same way? Ie apply now and switch within 45 days to get £50? I'm willing to let a helpful person refer me...

The terms for recommend a friend are different

    http://www.nationwide.co.uk/products/current-accounts/landing-page/recommend-a-friend

The referrer and the account opener (who they referred) both get £50 by the 20th of the month after the account opener completes their switch. Under the recommend a friend offer you much switch at least two direct debits. There is no time limit from referral to opening – but obviously they could withdraw recommend a friend so no point waiting too long. If the account opener closes their account within 3 months both £50s may be clawed back.

The topcashback offer – which seems to be being paid on top of recommend a friend (i.e. you would get £130 in total) – gives you £80 cashback if you apply to open an account (flex account, flex direct or flex plus) by tomorrow and then switch within 45 days. You will have to confirm your switch/account opening with topcashback to validate the cashback – they will email you saying what you need to do. It says nothing about having to switch DDs – but you need to for Recommend a friend.

You need to supply the referrer with your First name, surname, date of birth and email address.

    Hope that helps.

I believe the TCB offer may now end tomorrow morning rather than lasting the entire day - but there seems to be no indication of the quidco offer ending imminently.

One question on the Nationwide RAF - I believe the referrer gets an email within 24 hours containing a referral code which the person referred is supposed to quote as part of their application.

    Is that still the case?

Presumably if the person applies to open the account before the email is sent to the referrer - they won't qualify? I assumed the email from NW would be imminent - but seems to take a while.

Kind of. The email is sent to the referrer but, whilst they suggest you "might" wish to forward it to your friend there's no benefit to doing so being as it only contains links to the offer T&Cs. There is no referral code. Their systems 'marry up' each party.

Always a danger, but I'd argue strongly that they pay out the referral...as there would be time stamps on both, ie the referral submission and the application itself. Plus, the form doesn't contain an instruction to wait until the email is sent.

In my experience, the email is always sent the following business day morning.

It's all very professional though! Each party gets a 'Remittance Advice for BACS Payment' by post very shortly before payment is credited...which in my recent experience is only 10 calendar days after switch completion, and well before the 20th of the following month.

If you check the FAQ's on Nationwides site for the RAF scheme, it says that the referrer can refer an existing customer so I'd say they would still qualify.

Yes - I have referred someone earlier today (a relative) but had no email yet. And they want to take advantage of the TCB cashback offer which ends tomorrow.

So lets hope they send out the email pronto tomorrow morning - so I can get the £50 (as they have confirmed receipt of the referral) and they potentially get £130 (£80 cashback and £50 referral). And there is always quidco....

Such are the quandaries of timing on all these switching incentives! It may be fine - but you don't want to take any chances:D

I've seen it mentioned elsewhere (not on here) that the Quidco offer has been extended until the end of April. However, the amount seems to go up and down monthly...£50/£75/£80 so far this year alone?

As I said above though, I wouldn't worry too much...they must time stamp these things.

Just checked my last 4 emails and they were all received before lunchtime...with 3 out of the 4 being before 10am.
