We had the same issue (OH is Hindu/I'm English).

For boys we had Rohan, Jay, Keiran picked out.

We then last minute decided to go down the traditional naming route of letting the first letter be decided by the baby's birth date/time. And ended up with a girl anyway!

If you google indian baby names you'll get a huge list and you can work through those that work in both cultures.

Have you thought about giving two names? While it may seem like just more work it will give him more options later on.

    I like

Jayesh (could be shortened to Jay)
Ashwin (could be shortened to Ash)
    Vijay
Vikram (could be shortened to Vick)
Sam (Samir - not sure if this is a Muslim name)
    Ajay

    Hope this helps

I have an Indian friend called Partha. I also know a Sri-Lankan called Punniamoorthy, but he preferred to go by Ravi, which is a contraction of his surname.

Could you have and English first name and middle name of your culture?

Or another vote to something that can be shortened something easily pronounced (I like Samir too). Is this a Muslim name though? Nasri is the only one I can think of quickly.

Thank you for all the suggestions :)

Make-it-3, I suggested Rohan a while ago but think that OH has gone off it :/

Tigerprint, I love love love the name Devan but unfortunately one of my close cousins has named her son that so I don't think I could use the name again :(

Oooooh Serendipitous, I've not come across that before, could be one to put on the non-existent short list! Will run it by OH!! Thank you :)

Buzzybee, I'd prefer to go with a first name, we've done the same with ds1 and I sometimes think middle names can get a little bit lost, we don't use ds1's (English) middle name at all, I don't even think he knows he's got one!!

I'm coming across names I like but don't love and don't really want to settle for one that I don't completely love. Boys names are so difficult, we had pages of girls names!!

  • Sanjay - could be shortened to Jay

Daman - a friends little boy is called this & I think it's very sweet.

Deepak - shortened to Dee? Quite cute for a little one
