There are lots of newer names now. How about Mikhail, Rose, Winter, Summer etc.
What are your 10 top ones at the minute?
Hmmm don't think her son would be too impressed with being called Rose:D0 -
Jay for a boy would be ok0

Hari? Popular in the UK spelled Harry but the Indian spelling gives it a nod to your heritage too.
An older boy would probably be happy with something that can be shortened to Ash, or turned into initials, like Ajay.0 -
Mateah - means 'honoured / desired / liked' ? Could be shortened to Matt, and it is similar to English names such as Matthew and Mathias.
Lots of options here - http://www.bachpan.com/Hindu-baby-names.aspx
My cousin and her husband are a dual heritage family, and they chose to give their children English first names and Malaysian middle names, as they live in this country, so that would be another option.
their son's middle name is Anandan, which is nice, and could be shortened to Dan if he wished. All posts are my personal opinion, not formal advice Always get proper, professional advice (particularly about anything legal!)0 -
Another vote for Hari. Popular in Welsh, too.Member #14 of SKI-ers club
Words, words, they're all we have to go by!.
(Pity they are mangled by this autocorrect!)0 -
I quite like the name Kerim.
It's easy to pronounce for English people, and is Eastern in origin.0 -
I like the name Kiren, it's quite multicultural0

Thank you everyone
Apologies for not quoting, not to sure how to do it on an iPad!! To answer a few questions
We don't have a short list!! literally haven't come across anything we like, not even ones we disagree on!!
Hari was very first suggested when we found out we were having a blue one but I kinda feel I know too many Harry/Hari's. It's a very popular name at the mo and we know of at least 4 in our friends circle.
OH is leaning towards Jay in absence of anything else but I'm not really feeling it, almost feels like it's short for something rather than a name itself IYSWIM?!
OH has also said he doesn't want anything too 'indiany' (I.e. Too old fashioned/difficult to pronounce) if that makes sense?!
Please keep them coming should you come across any others!!0 -
Arun, Arin,..both sound English but with Indian spellings.0
