...in my case the 35% off offer on MySky changed to 50% off the day my cancellation happened !! I then contacted them via chat the following morning and managed to negotiate £25 bill credit as well as 50% off - I was happy with that as it reduced my Sky TV bill to less than £5 per week which was my target !!:T...but I suspect that I might have been able to screw a few more ££s bill credit out if I'd waited a few weeks more .:)

Will keep an eye on My Sky😄😄

Do a live chat with the button below the 35% off and ask them if they have any better offers, they will offer 50% push for a cash back offer as well and see what they say, tell them your mate got....good luck

This is exactly what I did. First I rang them and was told that 35% was the best offer. Later the same day I went through on live chat and said that I wanted to make one final check before buying a freesat box - I was instantly offered 50% discount for another 12 months. I did not get any extra cash back but then I did not ask for this as I did not know about it. I was happy with the 50% though.
  • Clicked the live chat and told them people were getting offers and what could they offer me. Offered 35% off, I said a "friend" had got 50 % off.

Checked with manager and said I could get the £33 TV package for £16.50.
I accepted it and did not want the Sports as it is too expensive and I get my fix of football with BT Sport. As I live in NI I get RtE,Tv3 etc through my ariel so I get the champions league matches free.
Overall happy to have saved money just by giving my notice.

I can't help wondering why Sky don't just reduce the packages for everyone, but I suppose if you don't ask....

My question is what is the cheapest way to record tv

I'd say use a second-hand VCR. You should be able to pick one up with a few VHS tapes for a tenner. I can't think of a cheaper way to record TV.

...but I don't think any old VCR had a digital tuner built in which means that you would have to use the analog output of a digital tuner box to record. Also obviously only recording in SD

If you have a recent TV, with a USB socket, you might be able to record to it. If you are really lucky, an external 500GB hard disk will work, but a 16GB FlashDrive should work.

Just thought I'd add to this. Sky still giving 50% discount. We cancelled last week, the next day the 35% off offer was on our sky account online. Hubby got a phone call today saying they would give 50%, this is only 2 weeks into cancellation period too. He took them up on offer as that's what we'd had for the past year anyway. Never have paid full price and we've had sky for years. Also not contracted either. :)
  • Hi

I have a quick question if anyone knows. I have just cancelled my Sky after 12 years of never having a discount. Thefts the lady on the phone could do was knock the price down from £87 to £64 for 10 months and tied in for 12 months. This she told me was a discount of 25%. I have been reading a couple of these these threads and people have been talking about discounts of 35% and even 50% with cash back !!!

My question is are these 35/50% discounts on the entire cost of your sky package or just the sport/movie/entertainment bundles. I was looking to get my bill down to the £45 mark.

I looked on MY SKY immediately after I got off the phone and there was an offer of 35% off but again I am not sure if this is off the total cost of my bill or just the packages.

Cheers - hope somebody understands what I am getting at :)

The discount is on the entire package. Whatever TV package it is you have.
