It's a grim time of year. Vitamin D ladies, have an egg or two. Salmon is also a good source and some fortified cereals and spreads. A great excuse for smoked salmon and scrambled egg on toast?

mmm, bossy, what a good idea :T Unfortunately I haven't got any smoked salmon in stock atm..... :(

Still in my pjs  - didn't wake up until after 9.00, although I'd been up for 2 hours in the night after a "full fat" coffee (i.e. with caffeine) yesterday evening, but I did put the time to good use and cleared the ironing basket at 3.00 am :rotfl:

This morning I have managed to
    - make 3 phonecalls (chatty ones)
    - write 3 emails (chatty ones)
    - cross 2 things off my list which another friend is doing for my sick friend instead
    - prepare goulash for tonight and start cooking it in the SC (we've got friends coming round for a meal)
    - make a Nigella chocolate orange cake for dessert
    - decide on an easy alternative dessert (raspberries, blueberries, sliced nectarines, meringue nests and ice cream)
    - samosa all my plastic carrier bags :p

After my shower and lunch I must clean all through downstairs (DH :A says he will hoover) and then I might get out in the garden for an hour and clear the leaves off the lawn and borders so that I can see the snowdrops as they appear. The roses and shrubs in the front garden also need a bit of tidying up.

    See you later x

dusty How did you pay for your machine? Proof of purchase doesn't always mean a receipt, could be credit card statement for eg.
I have a Bosch, which I'm very happy with.
Sorry to hear about your mum, and still sending best wishes, she must feel poorly.

I've been out and about this morning, usual Saturday shopping bits. I also had to return 21 tubes of tomato pur!e to Sainsbury after having a fat fingered moment when doing online shop, and then not checking it properly. :p rang the online customer services to confess, and when they stopped laughing, they said it would be fine to take into local store.

It's sunny and much less cold today, so had an enjoyable walk round town, and then coffee and pain au raisin on favourite cafė. May do something with DD this afternoon.

Morning all. LittleyDog wouldn't sleep in past 6am so here I am, seriously considering decluttering her today to get up to 100 items! Only joking
I'll take her....:D if we're still in bed at 06:00 on a work day, we're in deep doo-doo! And I can't hear the alarm clock at all, lately.

Folks, I hope all is as well as can be with everyone; apologies for being awol, I've had the worst migraine I have suffered in a very long time; three solid days of not daring to stray far from the Big White Telephone, crawling on my hands and knees because I was too dizzy to make it to my feet; and absolutely no looking at screens._pale_ At one point I was seriously thinking of getting Mr LW to call the doctor.... and I loathe doctors!

Anyways, I seem to be reasonably functional now, though the tinnitus remains positively vicious, so we'll see how we go.;) I have several days' worth of emails to look at.

Oh yes, still no sign of getting my hearing aid back.

Sorry to hear that, LW. Far worse than the ones I get - and they're rotten enough. Get well soon vibes coming your way.

I've showered, dressed, cooked lunch and washed up all the morning's pots and pans and baking stuff. The chocolate cake looks fine, as usual. It's such an easy recipe :)

Just decluttering a :coffee: before I whizz round with the duster, Everything is tidy apart from the kitchen table and hallway, where there are bags of food for the food bank waiting to be put out of the way in the car ;)

    afternoon all

Phoenix Nights was brilliant! Shan't say any more as I don't want to be a spoiler.

Travelled up with my sis, met the vallikids in Manchester and drove to the arena and parked in a warren of railway arches/tunnels for £5 - woot! Drove back in the wee small hours ans sis and the valligirl stayed here. Their trains were only 25 mins apart so only 1 station run needed. I now have 3 beds to sort out though but it's half term to time is on my side.
Then I managed to drop in at the foodmarket and help out.
Just had a late lunch of (cooked) cheese and onions like my Auntie Poll used to make. Not eaten it in years and years; certainly not since I have had the kids but I did enjoy it!

CAr's filthy. May be 1st job

I've taken to making cheese and onion flan type quiche things, which are fast becoming a favourite non-meat supper here.

The Met Office had an open day today, so we went there for a nose around. Very interesting. I like scientists.

I promised OH if he did a particular thing I've been asking him to do for weeks I'd refill the Twinks Tin. He did, finally, on Wednesday. The Twinks tin has been replenished and I have a new 'motivational tool.' Good.
    Better is good enough.

Dusty hope things improve for your mum.

Lots of stuff decluttered to charity shop.
Bit of shopping done, car filled up, Costa consumed.

Horse went to new home (previous owner) this afternoon. Having said I wouldn't be there when he left, felt I should help Mr N get him ready. Wrong move. Spoilt effect by crying profusely when new/old owners arrived.

About to have bath now then take MIL out for birthday meal.

I've just caught up with Fred. Healing vibes for your mother, Dusty, and Lamewolf. Bossy, I seem to remember there was a significant birthday around now. Hugs to you all, and Narco for letting the horse go.

Dusty, we take whatever make of washing machine with the fastest spin speed that happens to be in the workshop when our goes kaput and needs replacing. I've been through three in 20 plus years at this house and never spent more than £160 on each, delivered and installed. The current one happens to be a Hoover, spin speed of 1300 and takes up to 7kg. I rather like it. Having had a brand new washer/dryer in a flat a while back I'd never have a combination one again; it didn't do either job particularly well.
    Better is good enough.

Sounds a great day Valli, glad you enjoyed it.

Dusty I hope the ABs do their job and your mum is soon stabilised and they find what the problem is.

Hugs and good wishes to all who need them

Found out DS2 is in London doing the monopoly trail with explorers we got a text once they were all on the train.
DD2 has just gone home with 3 bags of washing I did for her, so we're going to have tea watch a dvd and I plan on knitting
