Ok from talktalk to plusnet an engineer is still required to come to my local exchange to do something to the hardware there.

That means I should see a difference in reliability any maybe speed if engineer is doing something hardware wise at my local exchange right?

That again is a maybe as all that will happen is you will be switched from TT equipment . You may well see an improvement but are missing the facts as posted multiple times .
You get a new service and after the ten day training period you will have to see what if any improvement . No improvement then start with your internal set-up .

Not necessarily. The signal still comes through your phone line which of course remains the same. If the issues you have at the moment are because of your internal wiring, long distance to the exchange, or poor quality phone line, then you probably won't see much difference.

So what you saying is that regular broadband switches between those ISP's are just like switches between Gas/Electricity providers where nothing is changed/edited at the hardware and the only thing that's changed is the name of the company?

No. As said above, the hardware in the exchange is different so you may well receive a better speed, but different hardware in the exchange will matter little if it is your phone line that is the issue.

Think of it as ordering something from (for example) Amazon and also something from a small business run from someones bedroom. You may expect better service from Amazon due to their superior infrastructure, but if they both use Yodel (again, for example) to deliver, then the service you receive will likely be similar.

Your wasting your time here.. The OP will carry this on forever and wont listen.

Look at their thread on buying a car. They said they put deposits on several without even looking.

Then their train ticket where they seem to have forgotten which way they wanted to travel.

    Update:

Plusnet told me today that no engineer will come to my house or my local exchange when I due to switch from talktalk to plusnet within a couple of weeks.

It is strange because I remember when I switched from sky to talktalk a talktalk engineer came to my house to test the line and went to my local exchange.

Shall I assume then that talktalk and plusnet use exactly the same network and sky uses a different network even though they are all on the same BT lines? Its confusing.
  • If you are on TalkTalk LLU then someone will visit the exchange at the very least, regardless of what Plusnet may say.
