Right we've been to the bank and the money is now on its way :j :j I will phone up on monday and get an up-to-date balance and then I can let them know on our mortgage-free challenge on the mfw board as its our first year anniversary on 17th April

I think my balance will be about £54,850. When I moved house in June last summer my mortgage went down to £60k so I have paid over £5,000 off since then :j :j Now I'm gonna aim to get it down to £54k by June 20th, then I would have paid 10% off in a year ;) This should actually be achievable as I will have 3 normal mortgage payments in this time which will knock about £300 off it, then I need to save £550 in 3 months, but I usually aim to save £200 a month anyway, so as long as there are no disasters I should be able to get there ;):D
    Mortgage Total: £51,549 / £75,000
    Mortgage Overpayments Pot £1079

    :T :T Well done Benben!!

I feel like such a fraud on the MFW board these days. I signed up for MFi3 but chose to take out a unsecured loan over a much shorter period instead of upping the mortgage for some home improvements. I had planned for this to be gone by ideally the end of this year (loan was taken out over 3 yrs last July) but things have kinda changed so the chances of me actually overpaying my mortgage at anypoint in the 3 yrs is now very slim :o . The numbers I post there are for the loan + mortgage but the mortgage part is only going by my normal payments. Sorry for confessing all this on your thread :o.

What I meant to say is ... again  ... well done!!

Don't feel like a fraud Taka!!! That board, like this one, welcomes all !!! I feel like a fraud on here sometimes as I am in a fortunate position that I can afford to overpay on my mortgage, but I feel like I could so easily slip into debt if I don't watch the pennies that I feel more at home here than on the mfw board :D

Good morning :D Its a good morning here so far ... my quidco payment has arrived in my account (£26) and a mystery shop payment for £15, which have bother duly been moved to the mortgage pot, which thankfully doesn't look empty anymore :D;) It has also been whacked into the mortgage calculator and another month has bitten the dust :j :j Now we're down to January 2031 !! I'm hoping in April it will go down into the 2030's :D:D

Its a yucky day today here, we're going round to my sisters this morning so ds can play with his cousin, so hopefully another cheapy day! Yesterday I only spent money on bread and caked at the bakers (£2.40) ... the diet went to pot yesterday too :o:o

At the moment I still have £34 to last me until Monday, I'm hoping I might have some left over which can be chucked into one of the various pots ;)

  • Good going BBaM.... :T

You inspired me to get my **** into gear and start listing on E-Bay. Earlier this week, I put some of the boys' football sticker swaps on there and yesterday, they sold for a fiver... . Couldn't believe it was so easy. Now I need to root about a bit and see if anything else saleable comes to hand....

Does BB still do his football on Saturday mornings?

Hi CH ... we haven't been to footie for quite a while now as we have swimming on a friday night and he's normally too sleepy on a saturday morning after that ;)
Good luck with the ebaying, its so dull but its nice to see some space clearing when its all gone (although I guess football stickers don't take up much space :p ) ... what I do is transfer all my ebay money into (yet another!) separate pot so it doesn't just get swallowed up with the rest of it ... mayb you could keep all your ebay profits to one side to use on xmas / birthday presents for the boys?

Thanks Benben! I think I need to rescue my DFW/MFW diary from oblivion as I made all sorts of decisions last night as a result of posting here!! It helped me get a few things in perspective so I think I need to do it more often!! :rotfl:

    That's a cracking idea...:T

I received an email from "The Motley Fool" the other day doing a comparison for the childrens savings accounts that are available at the moment. When I get five minutes, I'll investigate and open a couple of accounts for them. I opened one each for them last year with the Norwich and Peterborough building society as Yeovil Town ( my team ) were doing an affiliation with them where you got a 10% voucher for the club shop if you opened an account. I spent £75 in there and got £7.50 discount, kept the account open for a while then closed it. I still have the £30 that was in there ready to go into another account.

The stickers were only a fiver but if I could sell something every week for a fiver, I'd have enough for Xmas and birthday presents. Their birthdays are very close together as you know ;);) and Christmas is only a month later.

Sorry, went on a waffle there...
