I am so excited too. Part of me is freaking cause I just wiped out the last few months saving, but there has to be some fun. I've sent an email with a photo of the room but he hasn't answered yet.

I read The Happiness Project over the weekend (not groundbreaking stuff, but worth a read imo). One thing recommended was 'indulge in a modest splurge'. So probably don't remortgage to buy yourself platinum underwear, but a surprise weekend away sounds like a great idea :)

Platinum underwear doesn't sound comfortable at all :rotfl:

  • So, while I'm at my mum's waiting for the strength to walk to the library, i thought I would introduce myself properly :)

I've been lurking for a while, and am hugely thankful to WaS for starting the first thread, her openness and excellent descriptions which have helped me enormously!

I'm unsure of how much of this to penguin, I will err on the side of caution I think!

My MH issues are mostly fairly commonplace - childhood sexual abuse (from an extended family member) resulting in anxiety, a need to be fully independent and self sufficient. This has taken quite a few knocks over the last year or so, with the realisation of my personal preferences and the vulnerability to manipulative ex-bfs. I have a tendency to dissociate from triggers, which scares me as I feel it leaves me very vulnerable.

A few months ago I become physically unwell, and have had to accept being physically dependent on help from others - i hate it so much!! Stronger painkillers have helped with the dissociation as I was blocking out physical pain, so was dissociating easier. The cocdeine makes my brain foggy, but i guess its better than dissociating.

So I'm currently trying to reconcile the mental need to be able to protect myself, with being physically unable to.

End of penguin. Not too detailed, brain is fairly foggy on painkillers atm.

    Hugs to all

  • Meh :( (what's this 10 character malarky)
What came first, the music or the misery?
Did I listen to pop music because I was miserable? Or was I miserable because I listened to pop music?
  • Hope you were able to make it to the library Dragonette & Welcome :)

  • Thank you LSF, is it OK to abbreviate like that? Apologies if not. I like your sig :)

I did make it to the library and posted my sickline for my ESA. Sadly necessary

Evening all (she says, bearing a remarkable resemblance to a police constable.)
Just nipping in to say hello, long day today getting my head round some new work computery stuff which apparently I have been using incorrectly. And welcome to dragonette.

I like the idea of modest splurges, but my holiday splurges tend to turn out slightly less modest than planned. Must start entering a few more competitions again - that got me to Amsterdam last year.

LSF, was your meh a general rubbish day type thing, or more specific?
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.
  • Also popping in.

Hugs to all who need them, and a delivery of cake and ice cream to the duvet fort.

Hope you are OK, WaS, and that the paranoia is letting up a bit. (Well, a lot, in fact!)
