I am having a panic about work. In particular sick leave. In my company, we have a trigger point - the amount of days you can have off sick without HR and occupational health getting involved. I've been in a lot of pain recently and have gone over the trigger point.

In theory it should be ok - last time it happened I was signed off by the GP and I ended up having to go to Occupational Health. The woman was lovely and really helpful and logged my condition as a disability under the Equalities Act so they can't sack me. But because I'm such a 'good girl' I am worried about going over it again.

I'm also worried about what my colleagues think - if they think I'm pretending or exaggerating so I can work from home more. I'm really not.

I didn't realise that Jimmy Carr was trained as a physcotherapist? Your posts are so interesting WaS, so knowledgable. :) That phobia therapy sounds amazing!

Enjoy your day out! I hope the weather is better than it is here. It's absolutely P'ing down!

I wouldn't say I'm totally phobic of spiders (sorry for mentioning the S word tea!) but I couldn't pick one up or anything! This one had comedy timing, JC was talking about what this spider would do to this guy, and in runs the Sterling moss of spiders! Boy, he could run! :rotfl:

I know where you're coming from code. The company I used to work for, their sick policy was sh*t, to put it bluntly! It made you frightened to be off sick because a, after a very short while you wouldn't get paid, and b, the bosses were really funny about it (could just have been our bosses though, they talked about everyone behind their backs!), and c, HR got involved after a very short period of time.

I never had to deal with them personally, but two of my colleagues did, and they said they were lovely and extremely helpful, and I'm sure that yours will be too. Their job is to be their for and to find solutions for people, not to judge. Your bosses though, they're often a different matter, but who cares what they think, you're ill, and you've got rights.

Hopefully you're able to come to some agreement about working from home more often? When you're off ill, are you able to do anything from home? Sorry, I'm not sure what your condition is.

As you say Code, having it registered as a disability makes a huge difference. I'd say the mere fact you are worrying about it shows that are conscientious, so they will value you

From an (ex) manager's point of view, occy health wasn't about trying to get shut of people - it was a process to make sure everything was in place to support people and make sure the organisation was doing what it should be. And I generally found staff to be supportive of those who needed the adjustments, on a "it could be me" basis. So try not to worry, you're probably being harder on yourself than others would be.
People aren't daft, it's usually pretty clear who's swinging it because they're also pushing it when in the workplace as well. And I'd put money on that not being you.:)

happy bird day WaS - I feel a song coming on....
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

Anyone who remembers Beau (well ex Beau) he;s just texted me telling me he;s going to try and make a go of things again with his ex (before me). I can't help but think its because he's feeling lonely and hating being single. I know i shouldn't care, but i'm the kind of person who doesn't want to see bad things happen to people even if they are a part of my past. Plus in my experience people are exes for a reason. I know there was some stuff he said after we split up that was unacceptable but i still don;t want to see him get hurt. I don;t have feeling for him. I just have doubts and don't know if i should reply to his message. And i dont think he;s messaged me to be malicious or anything, i've told him in the past i want to see him happy and he knows i'm with someone else.

Maybe it will work? I mean she was the one who was accepted by his family, where as i had to be kept a secret. So i guess they won;t have that barrier.

I remember him and can't help wondering why he's got in touch with you out of the blue. Why does he think you'll be interested in his love life? You don't have to respond to his message, it's simply a bit of news; turn over the page and get on with your life.
.................:)....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

Oh my word, I decided to work from home forgetting that today was a training course. By the time I'd get into the office the session would be half over. I feel dreadful about it and my manager who organised it is not going to be pleased! I don't know what to do. I feel so guilty.

MU - do not respond to him. It's nothing to do with you and the fact he's made a point of telling you is just weird.

Happy bird-day to WaS. Happy bird-day to WaS. Our WaS has gone birding.... (someone else complete please)

If you aren't well enough to get to work, then you can't go. If you struggle in, you will disrupt the session, not gain much from it because you aren't fit to be there and probably harm your health.

Take care of yourself - it is the most important thing you can do
