Not much help to you WaS but I have a surplus of tramadol and codeine here. They keep giving me tramadol and I only take in extreme energencies because it scares the crap out of me.Eu não sou uma tartaruga. Eu sou um codigopombo.0

Thank you, I will ask the chemist tomorrow, elsien if they still haven't managed to sign the prescription.
That's very wise, code. Really don't take it unless you need it badly or you can end up in this situation. I managed to keep a supply of anti-psychotics and anti-depressants because without them I really would need to go to A&E but my GP watches the dates for the pain medication very carefully so I haven't been able to collect any. After this though, I am considering if I could reduce it down to 7 a day so I have a few spare.
It's been 24 hours since my last full dose and so far withdrawal is ok but pain is stabbing me in the neck. Still, not too bad so far.Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

I think karma/the universe/the force just got me for being smug. Am in a lot of pain now and will be hunting down the opiates. I have no idea why people take these things recreationally - I just feel a bit sleepy and not in a good way, and then horrible the next day. I actually itch and get cold like a junkie. i grew up in an area with really high herion addiction, so it was normal to see people off their faces or coming down. I didn't realise that other people didn't step over sleeping addicts on their way to the supermarket.
Which is not to say I think you and tea are junkies WaS. Just the comedown makes me feel like one. I get how miserable it is and if the painkillers actually did anything, I'd probably be addicted too.
I actually need to go to the doctor tomorrow as I am running out of meds and I didn't realise until it was too late to put the repeat into the surgery (48 hours here). Luckily my GP is one of these ones that opens the appointments in the morning. So, assuming my ring/ engaged tone/hang up/try again cycle results in me getting through, I will talk to them about other options. I'm scared. All these drugs are far too terrifying. All I want is something that will make the pain stop without making me fat, or cognitively impaired or psychotic or give me kidney failure or make my heart explode or addictive.
WaS, I hope you're getting through it and the pain isn't too bad. If you were here, I'd give you my pills. As it is, here's some virtual happy thoughts. (They're invisible but they're there).Eu não sou uma tartaruga. Eu sou um codigopombo.0 -

Hmm all of this has made me think - my Dr just gave me 30/500mg cocodamol when I first saw her about the fatigue. She didn't speak to me about addiction or withdrawal, but Im close to quite a few medical types and was aware of the risks myself. Would have been quite easy to get myself into trouble otherwise!
That said, i try to take no more than 2 a day, and rarely 2 at a time. I may need to take more soon - my pain levels are only just about tolerable at that.
Lots of positive thoughts to help with the withdrawal, WaS. Hope it isn't too bad this time. eta: would it be possible to take 7.5 tablets a day for a bit? less of a drop than 7 but could help build up a small reserve of tablets over time.
Code - I hope the painkillers kick in soon. I get v itchy skin too, its maddening! Have you found anything that helps with it?
My flat mate is actually pretty sick atm, done 2 trips to the shops to get him meds despite my migraine. Bought myself some pretty flowers as a reward. Well, self care is valuable toolove having greenery in my bedroom

Could I please make a plea to everyone, when getting a med for the first time, to always read right through the information sheet that comes in each packet. Doctors don't always tell you everything about a drug, and on occasion they may make a mistake and prescribe something that may be wrong for you due to another condition or med that you take.
And please hold on to the information slip, particularly for repeat prescriptions, as your meds or your medical conditions may change over time, so it's useful to have the sheet for reference.
If you have any concerns about a med, the best person to ask is the pharmacist, as they usually have a far better knowledge of the drug and its interactions than the GP. It is, after all, their speciality!
Apologies if preaching to the converted!(I just lurve spiders!)

Yes, I still remember the doctor who prescribed aspirin to someone on warfarin. and the pharmacist who was straight onto it.
Hope you folks have a better day today. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Had a lovely walk with Gitdog. Air feeling fresh, mist hanging over the water, very few people about, and me actually appreciating it instead of the usual list of thoughts running through my head.
I am undecided on the merits of Gitdog's current plastic bottle obsession. On the one hand it tidies up the streets and stops him from jumping on other dogs heads. On the other hand he takes out the legs of anyone and everyone in the vicinity when he spots a new one. (Reminds self to check 3rd party liability insurance.)All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
