Yes, I think your DH needs to know. They changed mine recently (I think it was the coating that was different) and I spent 2 weeks just wanting to throw up. This is the (flexible) 10-page repost of the etiquette..........:starmod:......................................................................:starmod:.....................
Here is the suggested THREAD ETIQUETTE. By following this etiquette, all posters, whether new or existing, will feel safe, unpressured and respected..
- This is a thread for support. We have discovered some good friends on here, but we promise always to welcome and include new people, and not to be cliquey.
- People may make suggestions to help each other, and might even ask if the suggestions were helpful or have been carried out, but we'll really try not to nag each other or put too much pressure on.
- The normal board rules about sexism, racism, homophobia etc. apply, but if we are careful we should be able to discuss almost anything without breaching board rules - so far we have discussed subjects ranging from child abuse to incontinence!
-If someone thinks that too much pressure is being applied, they can post the trigger word PENGUIN and flag up the fact that they believe there's a potential for someone feeling too nagged to do something. ANYONE could post PENGUIN if they felt there was a danger that suggestions were being enforced too much.
Similarly, if they want to discuss something that might be a trigger for some people, then posting PENGUIN would be a warning that what follows in the whiteout might be a trigger.
- So, if you think something might be a PENGUIN, please post something like the green bit which follows.
"I would like to discuss something to do with [insert subject here], but I am concerned that this might be a trigger for some people. Is everyone OK if I post about that?"
Then, when you post, repost the word PENGUIN above the discussion. Then post the penguiny bit in white! And the phrase END OF PENGUIN when you have finished.
It will look like this. You will be able to see the white text if you highlight it or if you quote it, (so please don't 'quote' a post containing a penguin onto the thread!)
(Harmless example follows here):-
PENGUIN
This is a penguin. A nasty, crotch biting penguin (CBP).
It isn't really! So you can look.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ozGTv0hxhpc[/url]
END OF PENGUIN
(NB on a tenth-page repost of the etiquette, you can see these penguiny words because they are white against the green 'quote' background. On a normal post, they will be white against white, and so won't be seen on the thread.)
IMPORTANT: It has been ascertained that some posters to this thread have found that there are certain subjects which act as triggers, precipitating a worsening of their condition.
To protect these posters, you are respectfully requested NOT to discuss these subjects on this thread:-
Religion. (Please note: it is recognised that everyone is entitled to their beliefs, and we respect those beliefs. It is only because of the fact that religion does act as a trigger for some posters, that we exclude it from discussion.)
N.B. Please don't even mention the name of the religion.
The afterlife. The reason for this is explained in this thread by one poster, and there will be others for whom this is a trigger.
We ask and thank you for your co-operation in this matter.
.........:starmod:.....................................................................:starmod:................
It should be pointed out that if anyone is feeling very distressed or close to a crisis, they do not have to worry about what they are posting, or whether it is a penguin for someone else or not. In a crisis situation, just post! We wouldn't want anyone to feel that they couldn't ask for help in case it's a penguin! The penguin thing only applies to a general discussion situation.
- More suggestions please.............We stress that we are suggesting that we AGREE some Thread Etiquette to HELP people who might feel anxious about posting, we are not trying to IMPOSE rules, just relating this to facilitating groups, so that people feel safe and able to participate as fully as they can.
...............Thread Motto...............

Another long sleep! I had a very good dream though remembering my wages when I was little.
From the age of 4 when I started school my dad used to give me wages everyday because we both went out to 'work'. Every morning he would leave 2p in a matchbox on the mantelpiece. I had a choice that I could either spend my 14p a week on sweets or save it and go to a jumble sale with my dad at the end of every month and choose a toy. He would match the amount of money I had saved. If the toy was more expensive than our joint money I would have to do 'overtime' to make up the difference. This could be reading aloud to my dad, doing science experiments or working out simple sums with him. Sometimes the matchbox would have a new word to learn the meaning of or a sum to do inside of it and I would have to put the answer on a piece of paper back in the matchbox. If I got this right, and even if I didn't (he would then leave the correct answer with my wages) I would get double wages next day!
By the time I was 10 this was 25p a day and I could afford to go to proper toy shops. He would always match my pocket money and never minded if it went over providing it wasn't by a ridiculous amount, I just did more 'overtime'. He kept this going until he died by which time I was earning 50p a day and buying clothes and pretty pens with my wages. He never forgot my matchbox.
I just wanted to share a sweet memory, he was a good dad.Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

He was a lovely dad and it was a sneaky way to get me to learn things! I loved getting words and sums to learn in my matchbox because it felt like a game, not like I was being educated. He also taught me how to save without me being aware that he was doing it and gave me a work ethic by never calling it pocket money, it was always my wages because I was going out to work just like him. By the time I was 5 I realised that earning money meant going to work even if you didn't want to, and I felt all grown up because I got my wages just like dad did!Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

. Me and my friend used to hang net curtains on our heads and take turns to be Charlene and we'd walk up the 'aisle' or pavement to the lamp post that was 'Jason Donovan', while the other sang 'Suddenly'.
I might have done something similar myself!Georgie, previously in the thread we had some discussions about the worrying mentality and different schools of thought about it. There's one school that reckons that worriers are survivors, they anticipate problems before they happen and so are prepared. Worriers are the ones who would have escaped the sabre-toothed tigers!
Another school classes worriers as realists, because things are seen as they are, warts and all., no brushing them aside.
So, don't worry about worrying!
We also decided that we're not worriers, we're warriors!!! :T
(By the way, the thought about the cat was based on fact, so you weren't worrying, you were being a realist! Probably a coincidence, though!)
I like that! Not worriers but warriors!
Re the cat, I'd read about this cat in a nursing home, and well I won't go into detail, but it freaked me out abit!0 -
WaS, that is beautiful! So heartwarming. A fun and clever man by the sounds of it.
Melly, he's such a cutie!0
