I am also having computer problems - my new desktop has ground to a halt so I'm having to take off everything I'd loaded and start again. No idea what's causing it, so I'm doing the add a programme/create restore point route to try to narrow it down. The techie forum people are generally very helpful but they have a tendency to make me feel a bit useless.
So instead of doing a reflective account for my advocacy qualification, I'm fannying around instead - I'm so easily distracted.:o (My excuse is I can't load dropbox onto the work laptop so I've got to get this blasted thing working properly.)
Hope everyone's having a better Sunday - the sun is out here, so I'm also about to venture out into the great outdoors.

    Good afternoon all!

SDW, WaSp has had flu symptoms with an extremely bad headache for 5 days now. He is getting a little better so I am hoping your OH is the same. In WaSp's case it seems to be a nasty viral thing. Big hugs, hang in there.

Hugs and warm handshakes to all that need them and I hope our new posters are feeling more at home!

You could never be a bad person, MU. Gentle hugs.

I have had various mental health professionals be a bit condescending to me, too Sue. There were only 2, one CPN and one psychiatrist who I couldn't work with, the rest I managed to get through it. I absolutely hate it. I am quite a challenge for them, though having worked in the field myself and having a thorough understanding of my conditions. I will stop them and tell them that although it is very kind of them I know when I am doing badly and for the most part I know what help I need, there is no need to try and make me feel better. The psychiatrist I have now is great in that he always asks me if I would consider a treatment and also asks me if I have any other ideas about what we should try.

    Mushroom update-five and increasing!!!!

The thing is, though, nicknames are a very affectionate thing! I think they're lovely! :)
Providing the nicknamee accepts it, of course!

I used to work with someone, and he called me by a nickname that had just risen spontaneously. Totally platonic work relationship, but this little nickname was a token of a friendship, of an acceptance if you like. No-one else called me it, only him, and I liked that!

I had a therapist tell me that ' you know you shouldn't think like that, so don't do it'. If only it was that easy!!

My doctor has been the best person to work with. He actually listens and tries to help, some of the mental health professionals seem to have heard it all before and so don't really take on board what you are saying.

I used to work in that field though, so I can see how it can be easy to assume you know what someone is saying without actually listening, especially when you are very busy. It must be an even worse field to work in these days with all the cuts and increase in workload.

Hope everyone is keeping warm and snug this evening!

Hello all. Having lots of internet probs so this is a quick hello before it cuts out again. Hope everyone's had a nice weekend x.
  • My husband is home again. Possible PENGUIN follows: Apparently the fluctuation of temperature and the sudden onset of a severe headache and disorientation are symptoms of a stroke and that is why he was admitted.

    End PENGUIN

However, all is clear and they say that it must obviously must just be the way he has the flu. Oh the relief!

    Thanks all for your interest.

What came first, the music or the misery?
Did I listen to pop music because I was miserable? Or was I miserable because I listened to pop music?
