When I lost my job and went to one of those job seminar thingies, they were plugging linkedin. I'm registered but have never used it because the "recommendations" were so clearly you scratch my back and I'll scratch yours that I found it dishonest. However the job people did suggest that the networking and joining relevant groups were invaluable in terms of job hunting. Give it a go with melly's suggestions, what have you got to lose?

It's more about the group input than recommendations. It's invaluable for looking at other industry best practice.

I have a couple of mentors on there now but it is a biiiig commitment I need to prune my contacts lol

What's making you anxious, if you don't mind me asking?

Not sure. I always get a bit anxious about going away and being somewhere unfamiliar, even though I enjoy it when I'm there. With the trip being for DH's birthday, I want it to be extra special. You wouldn't think that I took off and travelled Australia all by myself, would you? I have downloaded the tripadvisor city guide app, which is fantastic.

    A tooth hurts.

I went to the dentist a couple of months ago, but was unimpressed by the practice.

Two consulting rooms, nurses prepping the rooms and patients and one dentist batting back and forth between the two rooms trying to fit in as many patients as possible. It was a conveyor belt.

I asked about a scale and polish but was told there wasn't time - they sometimes have those slots available. Very helpful.

So I'm on the look out for a new dental practice. I'm going to have to go out of my way to meet, get to know and eventually trust new people. And pay them for it.

I've got a couple of numbers. I'll call them tomorrow. I need an appointment.

ETA : Linkedin??! Never!!?? Psycho Boss is on Linkedin.
 Don't know what I'm doing, but doing it anyway...

No idea why but i'm a bit nervous about going back to work, i'm sure i'll be fine once i'm back in the swing of things, i just always feel weird when i've been off. Can't really explain it. I think i definitely needed this holiday though.
