Sorry haven't been around let's just say the dentist trip on Friday was horrific. Pain settled down, not looking forward to next appointment.

Loveadove hope you get some constructive criticism. Awful way treated you. Hugs.

Synonymous don't give in to valentines day hype. I had a lovely night in cinema watching The Theory of Everything with one of my mates. Pub after and came home with helium valentines balloon(they were throwing out) put near window so I look all loved up lol. Cheap night out only spent £6.50.

Enjoyed sunshine today weeded patio, moved pots, general garden tidy and started on the garage clear out. So tempted to get a takeaway but just doing so well on my debt clearing, it ain't happening. Rummage in freezer time as today can eat without toothache.

    Evening all

Another spendy day today as got a mini top up shop (£6.50) - all budgets are blown but I am within the contingency that I have available. I really need to stick to my budgets as at the moment, its more of a rough guide, than a rigid budget, hmmm.

Finally did some more exercise today as I walked all the dogs :) Also did a few good deeds this week for my sister and she gave me £15 for petrol today :j so I paid it straight off my debt :) According to my bank, the interest rebate should be coming through tomorrow, so I am going to use most of that towards the debt, however I do need to pay a deposit on a B&B for a wedding later in the year so I will use it for that too.

I joined the pay off all your debt by 2016 challenge (or it might be called by Christmas 2015, I can't remember) and I have been totalling the money I have paid off. Since Christmas, I have paid off £1079!!!!!!!!!!! I can't believe it, its really motivating to see it adding up and the debt coming down :)

Fmess that is serious debt busting. I joined one of those thread will have to look for it and start posting. I have paid £489 this year, would have been more but for mini break to London.

I am enjoying colouring in 1% of debt squares best incentive ever. Saddo here.

DD1 enjoyed going to the free bird ringing event near us today it was good to see lots of parents out with their children even though it was thick as a bag with fog. Went to see the snowdrops cost £12 for 4 of us. Begrudged that amount but they did look really nice.We also bought some snowdrops for our garden frugal head went right out the window:eek:. DD2 really enjoyed off roading with her new frame today and was able to use the pull down seat to rest. Think she will be really tired at school tomorrow. Finally sat down to do some work on essay. Night turtles.

  • Good evening everyone!

Today has been a rugby fest for us. DS was due to play this morning but the other team cancelled, so they had a really loooong training sessions instead which I stood and watched. Then back home to wash his kit and watch Wales (only just) beat Scotland. Had a lovely roast dinner this evening and used up all the veggies from the bottom of my fridge. Plenty left over to go into a stew for tomorrow.

Has been a spend day as I spent £5 on kit for DS. it should have cost much more but it was surplus stock so I thought best to get it while it's cheap.

I've been thinking about the difference in my mindset over the last year. I used to live for each pay day and used to dread bills going out in case I didn't have enough left over. Now, I know I have enough in my bank account to see me thorugh the month, I can't wait for payments to go out (especially the credit card) as I know it means my debts are reducing nicely AND I budget for all my bills and debt repayments first and live on what's left over. It makes so much sense doing it this way, I don't know why I didn't do it sooner!

Well done both of you, Fmess and Calling! Awesome work!

Grabbed another NSD, an exercise session, and finished 4 bunnies. A successful day has been had in apple land.

Today I am grateful for my oven, for dd enjoying the party she went to, for lovrly chats with lovely mums whilst at said party, for a tough exercise session using just a chair and my own bodyweight, for the rugby on tv.

  • I haven't posted for a while as I wasn't felling very positive and didn't want to moan because I know I'm not the worst one off here. But in addition to ending up owing £1,000 tax:eek: on my self assessment I had to have new brakes on the car too this month (£145). Seem to have had a bad run of luck in 2014 and have carried it into 2015. Got made redundant last year resulting in drastic lifestyle changes, used all my redundancy to pay off a DMP that I had and have been very careful with money since. Was out of work for six months but then started a new job in September so hoped it would ease up a bit. But then ended up needing to get something called an actuator replaced on the car, which cost all of my first months wages. Then my husbands motorbike went wrong, costing £300. Finally in 2014 my husband didn't get the bonus he was told he would, which I had hoped would pay for Xmas.

So the brakes and tax bill (despite paying it in instalments) blew my already slightly optimistic budget this month. Cue frantic ebaying over the weekend, nothing sold yet but a few watchers.

This weekend I spent £46 on shopping and £10 on petrol, all birthdays out the way now and managed to keep to budget. Going to have a very cheap half term, payday is on Friday and I will be counting the days! Don't know why I'm excited as most of it will go towards my next instalment on the tax :( in one hand and straight out the other....

Will do my totals now and update my signature shortly.

Keep your chin up pippy, we all get times like that but your new mindset will pull you through. Sorry to hear 2014 was so difficult but just keep focussing on the debt and you'll get there. Well done for sticking to budgets though, I'm awful at that.

Thanks for the praise everyone, I was surprised by the total myself but it's a great motivator to work on one year at a time. I've made a spreadsheet which tracks how much I've paid off this year. I've also worked out how much I'd need to pay off a month to be 80%, 90% and 100% debt free by 2016, so I can see how realistic it is and how much I'm progressing on my journey. This month I've hit the amount I need to pay to be 100% debt free, so just need 10 more months of the same!!!!!!
