    Evening all

Thank you for all your advice, I think I'll take out a policy when I'm debt free as I like the idea of being covered, just in case.

Spendy day today as got the few bits we needed to add to the big shop I did at the start. Also bought my sister a few basic bits as she got the keys to her first house yesterday and has lots of eager visitors to show around and entertain.

No exercise but we did clean her house top to bottom so I am knackered.

Hugs all round turtles. I am just a very ordinary turtle, you all have this strength within you, if you need it. Come on turtles, it's only the first week of the challenge.

Give yourself a hug NOW. If you have OHs or youngsters who will oblige, ask them for a hug. You are all wonderful, striving to do the very best for yourselves and your families We are turtles and we will get through this together. I want you all to go to i-player and watch the last five minutes of Up the Women (bowling episode). Now hold that image of the Haka in your mind and imagine all us turtles together, doing it. Should make you laugh if nothing else.

I am not going to tell you what to do, but would ask you to consider registering to vote if you are not registered. Whatever the inadequacies of our system or the quality of the available candidates, many women and men struggled and suffered hardship to win you the right to vote and it is a privilege not given to many of the world's people.

Okay I'm getting down off my soapbox now, you can come out of the cupboard.

I have had a SFD. It's easy if you don't go out of the house. Woke refreshed at 7am, managed the hair washing all by myself using both the sink and bath, felt slightly guilty about carrying on with the planned easy day but had two more naps this afternoon so obviously needed it.

Made progress on the sewing but getting slightly frightened of opening drawers as keep finding extra bits. Am now not sure whether to continue using up bits or stop and re-sort the different components back into categories. Another couple of bits added to one of the charity donations bags and a small drawer that can probably be sorted/discarded fairly easily. Must FINISH things off.

    Today I am grateful for
All My Fabulous, Fun, Fit for anything Turtles (yes you are, even if not feeling it at the moment)
For chocolate biscuits and sharing - gave DS3 three and he gave one back, so I made it four (he puts two together and eats them like a burger, no idea why)
For sunshine, for pied wagtails taking a bath in the gutter of the building opposite and for extra layers on the bed.

    Sleep well turtles.

Ive spent £30 on food, £10 on petrol and £23 on cubs subscription. Am doing well with the exercise and fruit, easily having my 7 a day (I am a fruit and veg addict!) but a bit worried about my SFD's. Have to go to do my main shop tomorrow, will need to put petrol in the other car and pay for a school trip. Could try and do all three on the same day i suppose! Have three birthdays next week too so will have to get organised!

Today I'm grateful for the MSE forum, it's good to know I'm not the only one who needs to do this and reading your efforts keeps me on track :T. Have tried to get OH interested and it's just not happening!

Fmess - as a teacher you have death in service automatically - think it's 3x your annual salary. And you can nominate who your pension goes to.

mothernerd - thank you for the hug! And well done on the hairwashing.

crazy_lady - love the happy list!

pippy - it's all about planning, isn't it. Stick around here a bit longer and you'll find it becomes second nature. Those NSDs are precious gains that we jealously hoard! (unless the NEED for chocolate overwhelms us...)

Today I am grateful for seeing more rugby, for Monopoly with dd, for dh coming home, for the snowdrops in the garden, for dd's snot shifting from thr green end of the spectrum to the more yellowy section!

  • Good evening everyone!

Mothernerd you are very inspirational. Thank you.
I completely agree with you about voting. Whilst I fully understand why some people choose not to vote, we are privileged to have the right to vote and I would encourage people to use that right, even if just to spoil the ballot paper.

It has been an unexpected spend day for me today but it was a money saving spend. I desperately need my hair colouring before my interview. DH keeps telling me to treat myself and get it done, but I decided to spend a whopping £2 on diy stuff. DH helped me apply the base colour and I have a highlighting kit in the cupboard that I will attempt tomorrow.

Have been swagbucking and ordered another £5 PayPal voucher to go into savings.

Had a roast dinner for lunch today as I am working tomorrow and the veg was piled high! Have also been snacking on some fruit today. Will get back onto the 'diet' properly tomorrow.

Still feel like I am coming down with a cough/cold today but feel much better than yesterday.

    Today I am thankful for:
Children who quietly occupy themselves in the morning so I can have a lie in.
    Family meal times.
Living in a beautiful part of the world.

    Hi fellow turtles.

Just a quickie from me as flu has taken over body, collapsed into bed this afternoon. Had a lovely sunny walk this morning early as couldn't sleep so blocked up. Then popped to Lidls milk and orange juice not sure how I spent £14 chocolate was involved tho.

Struggling to watch tv, just want my bed. Pigged out so waiting for tummy to settle first.

    Grateful for.

    Hi everyone:)

Thanks for the hug mothernerd :-) Apple muncher, I'm a civil servant and saw the death in service thing on my statement. I thought this could only go to a spouse? Interesting if the kids could split it.

I find it really odd that now I know I will be debt free this year, the impatience is getting to me. I need to realise and accept, I can't get there any quicker and be grateful it's insight! Well I shan't be spending today.

Exercise hasn't happen in a while, I should try as it may well lift my mood a bit.

I completely agree about the voting!

    Afternoon everyone!

Glorious day here in Somerset :) so went for a walk to get me out the flat, then have caught up on chores. Pleased with myself as I walked into Tescos whilst out with the urge to spend... then put my basket back - thinking I will use what I have in - and walked out! Hoorah!

    Today thus = a SFD :D
