Today I am grateful that dd is already asleep, for lovely y11'pupils, for this morning's snow, for lovely neighbour, for getting all the washing up done.
Off to make curried parsnip soup.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
Thank you - the thought of doing any more exercise fills me with dread. Does my 15 minutes of gardening count?
I would say so
I already try to do this but my best laid plans are often derailed by other people's desires, changes of heart or last minute notifications, but I'll continue to try.
Always difficult when there are lots of people and faddy eaters or do they carry on until they are scraping the plate.
I've got my water wings on ready and paddling furiouslycupcake-queen wrote: »I had to pay quite a big fee to get it moved but 1 card is now clear YAY! I am paying a bit of interest on some of the balance but usually when I do a massive transfer like this I get another offer from the other card so if and when that arrives I will transfer the bit I'm paying interest over. I aim to be rid of them by the end of the year but may need to take it to May 2016. Once this OD is out of the way (which I've made really good progress on considering it was at £1500 in October) I'm going to start over paying them. I'm so determined this time and these challenges are really helping - I'll be sticking around for sometime!
Glad to here it and congratulations on the switch. I can't get a new card but am hoping to do a shuffle as the low rates I got last January have now expired. I have got credit increases on two cards but have to wait for the next Statement on one to come to make the most of my shuffle - will then get rid of two of the cards.Dottydaisy wrote: »Hi everybody, I'm starting to get my ducks in a row, trying to keep up with everyone but hugs, sticks, congratulations and commiserations to those who need them.
as regards the challenge rules here goes
1 My debt free date is so far in the future that I am going to try and pay £2000 off this year Whatever you are comfortable with as a starting point
2 anything left will also go to debts, or repairs needed in house Great
5 Exercise, will be starting aquarobics on Thursday and over 50's exercise next week as well I loved aquarobics
9 Take dog out at least 10mins each day More exercise
10 Focus on change needed in life -need to find things to do, places to visit at lowest/free cost, already going to museum and
music thingy. Telephone friends I am in danger of losing touch with.
11 Boycott eateries and cafes - can't do this much as my social life is meeting for lunch weekly, and for coffee with sil and with a friend. I can and will do this if I am by myself , home for lunch and carry a bottle of water with me It's fine if it's an occasional thing and you budget for it. the rule is to avoid it becoming an (expensive) habit - there is a tool on MSE which lets you work out the cost of eg a daily coffee over a year
12 My 15mins will be pampering with creams and all the nice toiletries I have stockpiled. Lovely
My fix it challenge is to go round all the windows in the house and push back in all the rubber seals that keep coming out.Exercise as well
Yea to dog foot warmers
Now I need to communicate with you all every day!!!
Dotty
All looking good.
Congratulations on your new job Debtdrowninglondongirl.
Commiserations on the boiler Stewby.
Bobarella well done on your 3 in a row NSDs.
I am on SFD number 2. Chopped more ivy. Sawed through one of the large branches (did a bit Sunday and two little bits today) then had to saw two branches off the sawn through bit as it was so enmeshed with the rest that it wouldn't come down. Went back later to chop one branch and saw through the pile of briar stems I cut last year.
Both bins taken to the end of the backs and then a few trips with extra bits. There is a pile of rubbish at my end of the back - not sure if next door neighbour is careless or whether it is stuff that has blown off the car park but will spend some time out there with the grabber stick this week or next (it's bugging me but haven't been well enough to do it until now). When did I become the litter police?
Read the latest e-mail from the year of happiness, didn't have time yesterday. Be warned the theme for the month is optimism and I am going to struggle with it - think I try to think positive thoughts but am 'naturally' inclined to pessimism.:( Will have to re-read it another couple of times (they always have diverting videos, Ted talks and things in them).
Did the questionnaire and it was worse than I thought, but a lot of it comes from childhood experiences. These responses can be 'unlearnt' but that's next weeks topic. One researcher mentioned mindfulness meditation and 'spending time in nature' as being helpful. So I am obviously doing some of the right things already. Bit worried about how bad that means I would be without the good practices - lemming level?:rotfl:
Today I am grateful for simple food, for cross-overs (DS3 liked one of the pattern 'doodles' I was doing, went to get his laptop to 'copy' it and then sent me a copy of the 'graph thing' he was using, as it's one of the things I need to put my own designs on the internet) and thinking time (getting there slowly). Several useful insights today but have put my notebook out of reach.
My mission in life is not only to survive,but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage0 -

Gin and printer didn't mix. Followed all online 'fixit' flow charts and none made a difference, all ran out of options. Concluded all of the lifting and shifting during moves etc must have broken it properly this time. Shop just around the corner had a 50% off offer for £30...have given in. Needed homework done!!! Then new one took nearly an hour to set up, exasperated is not the name for it! Am now feeling like supermum for persevering. Other printer under the stairs waiting to be looked at by a friend. If its fixable, DD can have it permanently set up in her room! Feeling arggghhhh:eek:. On plus side, meal planning is working out, more watchers on ebay items, and I'm off for an early night!0

Calling14 - it was in my local Boots, their own brand semi-permanent colour. Only seemed to be the light brown that was on offer though - maybe being discontinued? It's usually £3..

15 mins spent doing a menu plan for the week and going through the freezer and cupboards to see if I need to buy anything.
Eaten more fruit and the usual veggies so I have increased it.
Exercise done by doing a quick tidy around the garden.
My fix it this week will be mending based and the first thing will be my pj top that has a hole under the arm. I'm sure I can find plenty of more things.
So hugs to all that need them and hope everyone is keeping OK

Not much to report... boiler still broken. we are still freezing, however the cavity wall insulation people came and put cavity wall insulation in our walls so when our heating does eventually work, the house won't lose heat as easily.
Hope that makes sense.
Another spend-free day today so that's two in total.
Tomorrow will be a spendy day but that's cause it's my dad's birthday meal out. Not going to feel guilty about it as I am very lucky to still have my dad, other people are not as lucky as me.
Three things I am grateful for:
* My family.
I am so so lucky to have such an amazing support system at home. My parents and my OH are all amazing and I am always grateful for their help and advice and unconditional love.
* My health.
Despite a couple of wobbles in the depression/stress department, my health has remained remarkably intact which I am incredibly grateful for.
* Financial Awareness.
I am so grateful to this forum for helping me figure stuff out. Not only has it made me realise the error of my ways and my debt spiral (I know my debt isn't as severe as others but it could have become that way). It has also made me realise that my OH is not as financially aware as he made out.
So I am grateful for learning how to budget properly and for my pots which meant we can still travel and "have a life" (so to speak).
Hugs to everyone.Mortgage: £0/£80,329.91

Lost a SFD today during a ridiculously stressful day at work- colleague skiving, lack of staff. I was juggling 3 jobs, no lunch break so purchased a pepsi max. Bad loveadove, bad!
So as I have lost my SFD I will purchase myself something lovely from my holiday budget which will be a second hand travel book for Bali for £3.29.
Positives for Today:
* OH bought over chocs and cuddles to cheer me up this eve.
* Lovely friend's cheering me up.
* Getting to play with YNAB:coffee:
