'taking this all too seriously'? Really? The fact they are bullying me into leaving my flat? Yes, taking it too seriously. Stupid me.
Yes deposit is protected, but from what I've read about it, they are likely to try to take at least some of it when I leave.
If you take the time to read and understand what we're saying to you on this forum, you'll realise that they can't bully you into leaving. They can't just evict you. They can't make you pay for advertising costs if you didnt agree to it.
As for the bullying, you are protected by law from the lies they are saying. You can just say no to their bullying, and ignore them. You've signed a new contract, so you have security.
And that is why GM said you're overreacting.
You have evidence. A section 21 notice means they can go to court to make you leave (you DON'T have to leave before the court says so). And in court you have evidence to say youve renewed the contract (receipt of renewal plus email evidence), which means that the court won't kick you out.
Don't fret. Read GMs advice, take a deep breath, and decide what you want to do. It should be on your terms, not what they try and dictate to you.0 -
My thought here is that they want to make OP pay for advertising as if he leaves at the end of his 6 months, he's breaking the contract he has signed and they will be seeking reimbursement.
This bodes well for OP, as how can they seek reimbursement for a contract he's keeping to? They have a signed contract and nothing in writing about rent in advance. Their attempt to do so just further reinforces OP's case re: having signed a contract.
Don't take the £60 back, it'll leave you in a weaker position. As it is, they have a signed contract, you have proof (your receipt), they're clutching at straws and they will lose.0
