    The MOT tester doesn't care if it's been clocked! He'll write the mileague displayed down. He''s doing a safety check, that's all. Not his job to get involved in civil disputes like this

    If it's worth 3K with the added mileage, then just run it into the ground for a few years. Alternatively sell it for 3K with the correct MOT history and make the buyer aware of the displayed mileage discrepancy.

    Sounds like the seller was a crook fully aware of the car's dodgy past and saw you coming. I once went to view a cheap car at some address, all the seller had was the V5 with a different address on and an MOT history print off. I turned around and walked away.
