That is usually an easy spot.

Also the car is excellent condition.0 -
I don't understand, didn't you check the new mot for the last 3 years mileage?
100k in 3 years is ideal driving for a diesel, and must be in good nick if passed for having half it's mileage - although method of checking is obviously in question!
For 3k can use it 'til it dies then throw it away.
Good luck with it all0 -
Yes it does in 2011 its done 98k and since then its gone nearly 100k
Then it has been run up and down a motorway.
Any service history? If it has been serviced (say it was a lease car) then it might not be that bad, especially as you say it is in good nick overall.
What about stonechips on the front? Has it been driven 2" from the car in front in proper BMW style?
If it has been cruised about in those miles won't have really stressed the engine that much.
Also, what does the V5 say about the previous owner? Is it a company or is it meant to be the chap you got it off?
Absolute guff that he didn't know. Dealer not inspecting the paperwork? Pull the other one! What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?0 -
Trading standards won't take on your individual case - they will use complaints to build a case against a trader if they seem to be repeat offenders. Making a complaint to them doesn't cost anything.
If you want advice then go to CAB, although their advice is often questionable.
Back when I use to own a business now and again i'd get people making complaints making comments like that, wouldn't really take it seriously, TS are often toothless. Just got my back up.0 -
Did you get the V5C?
Was the MOT certificate a real one?
(Was the car his to sell, or was it nicked?)0 -
But at 194k how long more would it last for and also how can I be sure whether the mileage is motorway miles or not.
I should have been more careful.
Potentially a long time if it has been serviced correctly.
Have you checked the service history?Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0 -
