A good car for a short woman ?

I wondered if anyone who knows a bit could suggest any suitable cars please ?, at 5' 1" I think I may be a bit restricted.

I really don't know what to go for, have looked on the internet at quite a few. I have had a Corsa Envoy for several years, have always just about reached the clutch pedal with my big toe and always found it hard to manoeuvre in restricted spaces

I mainly do very little mileage but don't want something that struggles uphill as I live in a hilly area and steers well. (never tried a car with power steering....yet).

Perhaps you are short or know of someone who is around 5'1", what do you drive ?

I have a Toyota Yaris, which being a Japanese car and often favoured by the older generations, caters for us short people well! My ex-colleague had one, she was around 5' and loved it. It's nippy on motorways, good handling, and is good on hills as long as you haven't got another 4 grown adults and luggage in the back!

My Daewoo Matiz was pretty comfortable (just under 5ft) but they don't make them any more. You can get them cheap 2nd hand tho. Mine had done over 100k when it died, and that was mainly because I didn't look after it.

No such thing as a car for a short person. My wife is 5'1" and she has driven:

    E39 & E60 BMW 5 Series
    E36 BMW 3 Series
Jeep Grand Cherokee ZJ and WJ
Land Rover Freelander, P38 and L322 Range Rover
    Mazda Mk1 MX-5
Rover Metro, 216 Cabriolet, 220 Coupe Turbo
Fiat Bravo, Punto, Seicento and Cinquecento
Skoda Mk1 Octavia and Mk1 Superb
    Nissan Almera
    Volvo Mk1 S80, Mk2 V70, Mk1 S40 and Mk1 V40
    Citroen C2, Mk1 Picasso
    Hyundai Mk2 Coupe
    Saab 9-3 Cabriolet (currently)

She's also driven several vans and motorhomes, and towed a caravan and trailers.

She's never complained any are the wrong size/shape/level of comfort for her.

Don't let stature be a barrier, drive whatever you like - you will be limited only by your own confidence in driving the vehicle.

A lot of the cars in recent years appear to have grown in size but I haven't actually been to test drive anything yet and don't know where to start.

Not at all... she's not long-legged at all - just confident.

Being able to drive almost any car is just about adjusting the seat properly. She's yet to find one she can't drive.

I've found the Mondeo drivers seat to be remarkably adaptable - same species but different vehicles have seen me through over a decade's motoring & I bought the first when 7 months pregnant. Boot space beyond most 'girlie' cars passenger space!

They *are* relatively long & heavy but power steering & practice overcome most of that (and it isn't expensive to get replacement tail light units from a scrapper if you do misjudge matters.)

Wouldn't change it except for a younger one.
DfV, all of 5'4" at full stretch & more usually 5'2".

If the garage thinks you might buy, they'll adjust every lever in the vehicle to get you in safe control. (Then try to empty your wallet, but that is their job.)

    Yep. It's easy enough :)

BTW, welcome back - enjoyed your holiday? ;)

Well I found out honesty isn't the best policy, put it that way...
    Thanks :)
