Ds1 collected from another 18 birthday. It seems there is at least one every weekend.

I wish we had the same relationship here Piggers. I have a teen problem and have to think carefully about what I do about it. I don't want to push things undercover. My family never talked about anything and I find it hard but try.

Airing cupboard done. Ironing mountain demolished.

I find a good way to communicate with my noncompliant son (and a few times used this with my girls too) is by text of email or fb chat or something where he can read it slowly and repeatedly and take his time over replying.. these can then be taken and built into an almost conversation. My 19 y/o has severe dyslexia and dyspraxia and a social development delay so doesn't have the speediest of thought processes and has an appalling short term memory.. 2 things is as much as he can handle!

It is hard when you don't have the back ground of openness with your own family but someone has to break the cycle first. We all have the same body parts and we love each other etc so nothing is sacred.. whatever they are or do they are still the same person.. tbh, I don't care if my son is transgender, or if he is gay or if he wants to be a pig farmer or dance ballet or have his pink glasses.. he is still mine and so long as he is happy and not causing harm to others that is all that matters.. that is all they need to know. That you will be there whenever they need you, that you will help them achieve their goals without judgement or prejudice just acceptance and love. I know you do this, I see it in your posts and your young people know that too.. sometimes they don't have the words to explain what they feel and sometimes they don't want to upset you so keep it to themselves.. I don't have all the answers but this is what works for us.. good luck.. and feel free to bend my ear if you need to xx

Cuppa time and bed.. made a good way into my scarf.. not much left of my 100g ball so I am hoping to crack on with mol's cardy and Moomins blanket and a couple of baby cardies for my sisters friend who found out she is expecting her 2nd a few days ago.. I was next to know after her and her mr. <3

Aww piggers that really is lovely x I feel it gives children such a sense of belonging, which is so important in their overall self worth.

My family is a mixed bag. My mum has a tendency to over-talk and embellish to the extent that I never knew what was true. To be fair she's much better now she's older and settled with my stepdad. Think a lot of that came from trying to get some sort of reaction from my dad, who usually hid behind his newspaper. He too has mellowed somewhat and while he avoids everyday "how do you feel" chat, he will talk about the serious stuff.
I hope I'm somewhere in the middle :) and I'm trying to show my children that emotions are good things and how we deal with them is so important.
I remember someone telling me not to cry (about DH) in front of the kiddies. I did immediately think that was ballhocks - they need to know it's ok to cry and they also needed to know it was ok to stop and smile again.

    Err. Waffle over. Sorry.
    <oops>
    Will go clean. Something.
    Lol

  • Morning everyone.

Still waiting to hear from DS though he did try and ring whilst we were at the farm shop early yesterday. Had a rubbish night's sleep worst ever!

Off to Mr T for a look around and to get a tank full of petrol with our discount. Never had so much off! Been using their super offers to stock up - especially the wines at£3.65 a bottle!!! Mr T metro. Now need to be restrained and keep to sharing a bottle a week LOL!!

When we get back I'll be attacking the ironing and cleaning that I didn't get done last week. Can't believe it is Feb already - where does time go.

Hugs sticks and spoons where needed folks. x

  • Morning everyone

Just been sat on the sofa with my 14 yo. Its all very well being open and listening to your teenagers but what do you do when they dont talk to you? I am lucky if I get more than three words out of my 14 yo. He is a lovely kid but I know he holds back because he thinks we have enough to cope with looking after his brother. And he knows that if he keeps his head down and keeps out of trouble we just let him get on with things.

I feel so out of my depth with this parenting stuff sometimes. And I remember thinking toddlers were hard work!!

Lazy day today. Worked 10 hours yesterday. I did suggest going to the seaside for fish and chips but its pouring down out there!

    Morning all

Didn't sleep brilliantly so I've had a latish start. I've awoken with a cold too.

WM on, going to dust LR now and then clean bathroom and have a shower. I need to do DS3 cricket runs today which takes about 3 hours.

  • Morning Flyees can I please join? I am sick of the house being a tip and me having to use my days off work to clean it. The washing machine has a pool of water in the drum so hopefully that is easily sorted as I need to wash DD's uniform. The kitchen had a huge clean the other day, got a few pots that need putting away and a couple that need washing. Got to try to sort the toiletries out again and either bin the ones that are no good or write a list what we have to avoid overbuying (DD's dad has an aversion to throwing empty bottles away I think) so I think we have stuff left, lift it up and it's empty.... grrrr! Might pop to my Nan's for Sunday dinner as DD and her dad stayed at his mums last night (they went to a surprise 60th birthday). But first need to try and sort the washing machine. I hope it's easily fixed.

Congrats to your DD wendywitchpigpen glad your visitor arrived, hope the issues with the family get resolved, it puts you in a difficult place.
DD2 round yesterday so did her washing fed them and all went over to see DD1 then watched a film and her fella made a start on fixing the puter, I thought Ds2 had broken it but it's so old and full he said that more the problem, haven't tried it yet as it was still doing a virus scan when they had to leave which was still going on when we came to bed. So far today read papers, sorted out mils money to take round later, and got phone call to delay a planned outing for Ds1. DS2 is in school most of the day for show rehearsals so planning to watch a dvd later while I clasr the ironing again and hopefully do some knitting.

    Have a good day all

Morning all. I haven't caught up with the thread so I hope you are all ok.
    Welcome MissFlirtUK.

I have been MIA for a couple of days as I've got conjunctivitis so decided a couple of no computer days would help rest my eyes. Had to come on this morning though to sort some banking so thought I'd pop in here.

Still decluttering at least one item a day - on 88 now.

    Today I have:
    Cleaned the fridge
    WUDUPA
    Decluttered
Done 15 mins on exercise bike in gym

    I plan to:
    Bath
    Walk dogs
    Put out recycling
Pop to pet supplies for flea drops
Dig new veg plot in garden
    Hoover and mop through house
Check if any washing needs doing and put stuff away on airer

Read this weeks papers (two to go).

    Have a great day everyone.
Spend less now, work less later.
