Gutting it is actually an offence. But i'd do it anyway. Do so though knowing VOSA have recently been known to pull cars over for random checks which have involved checking emissions.0

There are actually two (to be concerned about). Main Stat is slightly more since I got mine at about £45 now with the smaller EGR stat about £35. One is easy to change, the other a complete swine.
Those are BMW prices though.
I googled that part number and the only result is this page
I still think you need to be sure why it failed. If it is short journeys, fair enough but at that price, don't let it fail again no matter how you fix it.
Yes as I said that part no. came from Suzuki and I cant find anything online relating to it either.
I'm still waiting for them to get back to me with an explanation about it but I'm not holding my breath.0 -

The garage have now cleaned the DPF and told my FIL he can pick the car up today as it's running fine now so we will see how it goes.0 -

What offence would that be?The truth may be out there, but the lies are inside your head. Terry Pratchett

I have just had another call from Suzuki but they didn't really offer any sort of explanation for the price.
He did mention the Fiat that uses the same DPF and said Fiat buy them from Suzuki and charge about another £700 on the price.
All I can say is I am glad I dont own a diesel car and wont be buying 1 any time soon.0 -

HonestJohn has to be read in two parts. With the shear volume of solid industry and private car user information coming into that site, there is a lot of good information on real life car faults, economy etc.. However the bit that he actually writes is out of date garbage or government press releases that his paymasters get him to rehash.
DPFs will be examined, but they will not be tested, and as with many cars fitted with them (and cats) they still pass the MOT emissions test whether they are as factory, or not.0 -
So an MOT fail, but not an offence!?The truth may be out there, but the lies are inside your head. Terry Pratchett

It is an offence under the Road vehicles (Construction and Use) Regulations (Regulation 61a(3))1 to use a vehicle which has been modified in such a way that it no longer complies with the air pollutant emissions standards it was designed to meet. Removal of a DPF will almost invariably contravene these requirements, making the vehicle illegal for road use. The potential penalties for failing to comply with Regulation 61a are fines of up to £1,000 for a car or £2,500 for a light goods vehicle.0
