Well my little rattie is feeling better today. She's tipped the water bowl everywhere so it shows she's back on form....ha ha.
Going to Glasgow for a whistle stop tomorrow. If anyone knows cheap accom (we might be staying over night) be sure to let us know. We are going to get my fellas wedding outfit sorted (his family are from Glasgow). I know nothing about Glasgow, so if anyone has any recommendations of things to see let me know.
He's rubbish because he's obviously spent loads of time there so he doesn't think about the sight seeing part of it. Obviously, try and keep money saving in mind too!
I acquired an industrial wheel barrow for free today too! Bonus.Reduction in daily mortgage interest since October 23 (new mortgage) - £2.36 July 25

Ok, so never made it to Glasgow, going tomorrow instead.
Anyway, bonus, Apple are recalling some battery cells of certain laptops and offering free replacements! And guess what? My battery falls into free replacement catergory!!! Woo hoo. The battery on it at the mo is shocking, so thats ace and saves me having to buy a new one in the near future! Yey!
I also have a question. Was walking round a charity shop earlier with my partners Grandma and I saw some really nice looking and cheap things. I thought Hmmmm.....they'd sell well on ebay.
So when I got home I looked on ebay and they would indeed sell pretty well. Not vast sums but well enough.
My question is though....is it morally wrong to buy from a charity shop with an intent to sell and make a profit?? I can't decide.Reduction in daily mortgage interest since October 23 (new mortgage) - £2.36 July 25

Made it to Glasgow for the day! Woo hoo.
But forgot to make enough food for the return journey so we ended up stopping at a services and paying silly amounts for food....best laid plans eh!
Still, only had to put £100 down on his outfit today. So we'll have another 2 months for the rest of the money to sit and earn us interest which is always a bonus.
Feeling a bit naughty too. I need to buy a book for uni. So while I ordered it, I also ordered 2 extra books for me to read (ahem)! Still, I'll keep em in very good condition and sell them when I'm done. Well, not the one I need for uni, because I'll need that when I'm teaching too.
Oh well, I'm be better next week! Although I have to take the rat back to the vets on Monday for a check up! Doh!Reduction in daily mortgage interest since October 23 (new mortgage) - £2.36 July 25

Hey, all sounds good and very positive. Think it's a great thing to keep a diary and keep track but as you are not in the "desperate" catargory perhaps don't get as regular feedback... however every little step you take and all the plans are def worthwhile!
My boyf is def not a DFW and laughs a little at me at times but I think each little step makes my debts and my mental health better so I keep on going, incidently happily!!
Good luck with all and keep going!DFW Nerd #1310

I know I'm technically not "desperate". But we have a wedding to pay for and our house is what you might call a bit of a state, so I feel pretty desperate.
We have been living in the bedroom for the last year (which must be ruining the bed as its not really ment to be a sofa), and can only use the bathroom - which is functional but not pretty (and the shower leaks so much so that we have a bubble on our kitchen ceiling now), and the kitchen which again is functional rather than as you would want your kitchen to be.
Rather than do the whole credit thing, we have decided to save up and only do as we can afford. This is due to my phobia of debt brought about by my parents.
My mum is addicted to spending and my parents are in a ridiculous amount of debt. It's all done behind my dads back though. She's maxed out all their cards (which have now been cancelled) and borrowed from Peter to pay Paul etc. She stole over £1K from me on my credit card, which I have paid back but she is still giving me installments on all that to actually pay me back. And my dad had to borrow (difference being he asked) £5K (over the years) from me and is also paying it back in installments.
So I'm really phobic of debt and have to try and save the money for everything if that makes sense.
In fact, my dad says if it happens again he's off. The trouble being she denies it all and lies and hides all the bills and final demands. It's really quite painful for all involved. If anything, I'm too far the other way and deny myself things for fear of spending and getting into too much debt.
Anyway, I'm off to town shortly to pay some money into the bank and buy a few bits and bobs for the house....Reduction in daily mortgage interest since October 23 (new mortgage) - £2.36 July 25

Well done one battling to stay out of debt, I wish I'd been more like you. Regarding to huse, try to remember that once it is all finished it will be worth while.
What are you currently saving up for? or is everything going towards the wedding at the moment?Current debt - £16,300 Debt at worst 17/03/2011 - £18,067.62:eek::eek::ANot going anywhere else, ever again :A0 Debt at worst 17/03/2011 - £18,067.62:eek::eek::ANot going anywhere else, ever again :A0

            I am saving for:
 a) wedding
 b) paying bills and unforseen extras - cos we will both be back at uni from September.
 c) desk.
 d) computer for my partner (we have joint finances), because I'm a trainee teacher I'm ALWAYS on mine, so he needs his own.
 e) Suite for the living room.
 f) carpet for living room, stairs, back bedroom.
 g) new shower cubical, tiles, flooring.
 h) rebuilding and sorting yard walls (the back wall is going to fall down).
 i) Wall paper/paint throughout
 j) internal doors throughout - we only have a bathroom door at the moment.
 k) furniture for the living room eg, coffee table, tv stand/entertainment unit etc
 l) fire for the living room
 m) restructuring the fire opening (the builders we had in last summer botched the job).
We have already had a re-roof done and replaced the external doors and windows throughout. We also had to get the front and back skins of the house rebuilt as the ties had broken and the walls were bowing.
And we dug up ALL the floor downstairs (throughout), re did the damp proofing, and concreted it, laying wood on top, then lam flooring in kitchen, but want carpet for the living room.
It's a long slow process. And we cant do or get lots of stuff until we have done other bits....a pain really.
Up until last month I was learning to drive too, which was eating most of my money. But I passed my test first time and so thats all done and dusted now! Woo hoo.Reduction in daily mortgage interest since October 23 (new mortgage) - £2.36 July 25

Well done on passing you test!! I passed second time.
Looks like you've already done loads of work on the house, be proud of it and build up bit by bit. I guess you already shop during the sales and offers, I know that some DIY places do kitchen and bathroom offers.
Just think how much satisfaction you'll get from your house once its done.Current debt - £16,300 Debt at worst 17/03/2011 - £18,067.62:eek::eek::ANot going anywhere else, ever again :A0 Debt at worst 17/03/2011 - £18,067.62:eek::eek::ANot going anywhere else, ever again :A0

Yeah defo shop in all the sales etc. I know, it will all be worth it. But it does start to get you down after a while. I think it's more people (ie, the inlaws, friends etc) making jokes about how long its taking us to do everything.
But we are doing everything ourselves (ok didn't do the walls n new windows ourselves but you know what I mean), and it takes time. My fiance commutes to work 5 days a week, and then DJs on a Saturday night. And I can't do alot on my own, particularly with the sorting through stuff because most of it is his.....drives me crackers!
Anyway we are hoping to get the study done by september so we can keep all our uni stuff all in the one place. And then the living room too hopefully - minus carpet! So at least we'll have a living room which I think would help.
Anyway, I spent a little too much when I went up town. I spent £3.98 of 1kg of cashew nuts because they are normally v expensive in supermarkets and that seemed like a bargin...and they are a very healthy snack. And £2 on my dinner. COuld have waited until I got home but I was too hungry...oophs!Reduction in daily mortgage interest since October 23 (new mortgage) - £2.36 July 25
