'New' car at 16

  • My questions is, can the car be in my name (at 16), and if so can my dad still insure and tax it?

As per https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/does_the_registered_keeper_of_a its a bit of an odd one in that you dont have to declare your age when registering a vehicle and therefore anyone of any age can do so however if the DVLA do become aware that a minor is the registered keeper then they may refuse the application

As long as the registered keeper and owners are correctly identified then insuring a car owned by someone else in theory is fine. Some insurers arent happy with certain relationships between insured and owner/keeper but its massively less of an issue on day insurance.

As long as the car isn't hundreds of miles away I'd save the hassle and ask the dealer to deliver it - maybe offer them a lift back afterwards if that helps them.
I agree. or he may know someone who can do it on trade plates.

Can't think why someone would buy something as common as a Corsa from hundreds of miles away TBH.
    PLEASE NOTE

Corsa's are cheap to insure, and are solid from what I've drove in the past, and look a ton better than a focus or fiesta
  • Cross's are cheap to insure, and are solid from what I've drove in the past, and look a ton better than a focus or fiesta

I'll take your word for it my latest renewal is a shade over 200 so I'll be shopping around.
