I would rather stick needles in my testicles than go back to Scottish Power.

every company as its issues, just look at npower to name 1,

no ones perfect sadly, good thing is if you have issues and they don't take your complaint seriously, you simply go complain and take it further and throw in compensation for your trouble,
    it does work.

I'm also on December 15 tariff and on the Feb 16 tariff the standing charge both Gas and Elec is cheaper, as is Gas per kwh. Elec is just over 1p per kwh more expensive.

Taking all of the above into account, I should still be £60 per year better off on the Feb 16. Better than a kick in the face!
  • Crikey I love this website. I'm with sp and only switched to Jan 16 fix about a month ago reducing my monthly dd from £110 to £93. I assumed I couldn't switch again and wasn't aware of the Feb 16 fix until reading this thread - logged in (on my iPad in front of the tele) and found the cheaper tariff and switched - dd down to £83 and almost zero effort - thanks all.

Went to change my fixed rate to the new Feb one just now and it said can only be done on the phone.Since the lines close at 10pm thought it may be too late but no,phone answered straightaway. Not only have I got a reduction of £10 month, and am saving over £90 a year, but I queried the large amount of credit that has built up.She immediately arranged a refund.

I got the warm home discount last month and I know a lot of people have had massive problems with Scottish Power but I have been with them several years and apart from a couple of minor blips last year,on the whole I am still pretty happy with them.

I was debating whether to change the tariff last month as the standing charge is cheaper but both gas and electric were dearer per unit. Now the electric is a little dearer but the gas is cheaper so I will benefit this cold weather!
  • Yep. OK, so we decided to pay off the £250 debt we owed, and then switch tariff, so that we could have a lower DD.

However, that didn't really work because the payment said 3 days to clear... So it still put us on a higher direct debit.

Once the one off payment clears, will they let us reduce our direct debit? Cause we will then be paying too much!!

You should be able to,yes. They are really improving, well in my view anyway, with what you are able to do on the website.

I will let you know when the refund comes through.Mind you,i am beginning to regret asking for all of it.I input my readings every month so I shall soon be making an extra payment to cover the higher bills this cold weather!!

Swapped last night to the Feb 16, after doing Jan 16 three weeks ago.

Their calculator for new direct debit amount doesn't seem to allow well for seasonal variation, as it wants too much at the moment, but it should be possible to reduce it in a couple of months.

Maybe there will have been a couple more new tariffs by then ...

Last year it produced an underestimate at about this time, which I suppose is a way to help people a bit by smoothing out the higher usage, but with the tariff changes this year it will be the actuals.

Last week, I transferred to Online Fixed Price Energy January 2016.
The monthly direct Debit is set to £55. Then the next day, the new Febuary fixed got announced!

Now, when I go into "Change My Tarrif", the new Febuary deal is calculating the direct debit at £76 and annually at £913.52.

That is an extra £21 direct debit per month.

How do i know if the January or Febuary deal is better? I can find little info on my existing January deal I am on in "My account".

Is there a side by side comparison I can do between January and Feb on the Scottish Power site to know which is the better deal for me?

It is not clear what the rates of my existing January deal are or where to find them on the Scottish Power site either?

Bit lost! Thanks for your help.
(note - I am on dual fuel, located in Area 16, Norweb area if that helps).
