  • Thanks, just switched to that now.

Scottish Power get a bad rap on these forums, but switching between tariffs online is really easy.

    Switched TWICE in 2015 already!

Looking forward to Online Fix March 2016.

As far as I'm concerned, they can keep the standard tariff unchanged, just give me 23.7% online discount, and 6% Dual Fuel discount.
  • if you switch online to the same company, how soon does the deal start with the new rates, is it the same day? or does it take a while to switch before u benefit from the cheaper/longer deal?

Just as it is with most of the other suppliers.

You can submit readings during the online switch, otherwise Scottish Power uses an estimate. A statement is produced, which is the cut off point.

Some years ago, when I switched between E.On tariffs, they stuck to quarterly statements. In the statement, you have extra paragraphs, so you get a calculation for each date range, using the relevant unit rates. Since the tariffs were not so frequent, I never had three paragraphs.

With Scottish Power, I switched at least four times since October, so a fresh statement per switch works better.
  • The Scottish Power billing spent most of 2014 in tatters while it was upgraded. Most my billing/consumption history was lost or corrupted, not to mention the company's reputation. Things seem to be back to normal. I've just changed to Online Fixed Price Energy February 2016, and expected annual bill dropped by more than £90 - not bad considering I was on Online Fixed Price Energy January 2016. Roll on Online Fixed Price Energy March 2016.

I have just been on Uswitch and this February 2016 deal is the cheapest, even cheaper than all the new companies like Ovo!

It's still behind Zog, Better Energy, Daligas, and NPower for me.

    Region: SW
    Annual usage: ~5000kWh

It looks as if a very large number of people will be switching to this deal today. I just hope Scottish Power can handle the volume without going haywire.
