Someone murdered in house

Yeah I might be a little concerned if there was a decomposed body waiting to greet me on my first viewing!!
As long as it's properly stuffed it's fine... http://terriblerealestateagentphotos.com/post/99505644346Let's settle this like gentlemen: armed with heavy sticks
On a rotating plate, with spikes like Flash Gordon
And you're Peter Duncan; I gave you fair warning0 -
If I did the murder I would try and stay in it as long as possible.
After all, new owners can be very nosey about what's in the walls.0 -
Wow thanks for all the replies - both serious and comical :rotfl:
So what I've managed to find out is that it was a domestic violence case that happened about three years ago. It wasn't a big publicity case but there was a bit of local news interest (found a few pages on the local news website about it). Not sure actually who currently owns it (estate agents bit vague, which is what initially aroused my suspicions and I started having a look about and ended up finding the address on the news page).
It's an awful thing to have happen totally but it could have happened anywhere else. I guess as pointed out it could be a worry if the chap gets out of prison and then decides to turn up and a knock at the door... Or being known locally as the person who bought "that house"...0 -
That would not be possible. 25 Cromwell Street does not exist. It was demolished, 20 years ago? Used to walk past the site regularly at one time and it's just a pedestrain walkway with some shrubs.
Rather creepily I used to work in Gloucester a few years ago for a couple months and would regularly be asked by the taxi drivers if I wanted to go and see where the house was as it had become a sort of weird tourist attraction!
And no I didn't go0 -
My neighbour was murdered by her husband. I remember it well, the house had to remain empty (and boarded up) until the trial. The current owners are not even aware of what happened, and it's probably only the closest neighbours that remember anything.
For those saying they would not live where there had been a murder, I would question how much you know about where you are living now!0 -

You might get a bargain, and then when media interest (if there is any) disappears may go back to its natural price0 -
One of my friends once got a great deal on an apartment rental in Hong Kong, because the previous occupant had committed suicide by jumping out of the window. A complete jinx according to Chinese superstition.
I always wondered about this as it was on the 15th floor so she would have been some considerably distance from the property at the time of actual death.0 -

In this case the price being asked isn't any different to similar properties locally. But the EA was a bit vague and evasive as the buyer was "very discreet". Okay if it was a multi-million pound mansion in Mayfair I could understand it, but a few hundred K in the east midlands? Yeah, that didn't arouse suspicions at all...
So not sure if the seller is anything to do with the couple, or maybe someone who got a bargain at the time but doesn't want to flag up someone else finding out now they're selling ... Which clearly hasn't worked if that's the case!0 -

If it had attracted serious media attention - then probably not. I wouldn't want all the neighbours looking at me thinking 'oh he's living in that house' or people visiting my property because of its history.
If it had been altered in some way by the acts - people literally buried in the garden, patio, etc. then no.
But, if it was an unspoiled house - same as any other on the street - except something had happened in it previously, then sure - I can't see why it is any different.
Just because a murder happened previously doesn't increase the chances of it happening again.0
