  • What about Dosh Saving Dinah??? Sorry I'm useless at anything witty. That will be my one and only contribution.

I'm in agreement with the others. If he doesn't have the courtesy to inform you of his plans then you should stick to yours!

I'm not going to lie, the 5 months were so tough, especially with my Next addiction. But I was very proud of myself and the end of it all and I don't think I've gone back to the level I was spending at.

Lol at you Cinny spending online on NYE. Love it!!! That's defo something I would do!

Wendz - I can't believe my baby is 4 either. Time is passing so quickly. Both have settled into Montessori and school very well. How about Poppy?

Okay I need to set up a blog and a Facebook page for money saving articles, lots of deals, money loopholes etc. Can anyone think of what to call myself/my site? I'd prefer something a little tongue in cheek like Skintdad rather than something twee but I'm utterly flummoxed.

Hmm... trying to think of something that's a play on a name... shame your name isn't Kate or CheapsKATE could work, although there's nothing stopping you from adopting a different name for your blog persona?! Was thinking along the lines of Penny Pincher (as in a 'name') but there are loads of blogs with that name and Penny Wise looks to be a scary band.

I'm fairly sure you've got your maths wrong with Evie CMD, how can she be 4?!

Best I've come up with is something like Savings Seeker? I wish there was a jaunty term for 'personal family finance'!

Please stay delurked Star! You're on a no new clothes challenge for a year aren't you? How's it going? :)

thanks Birdie. It's going well so far but only started 1st September. Had my first curve ball thrown in that both kids needed tops a specific colour for a school thing to do with the World Cup. I found two white tops they already had and some dye from my craft stuff so I plan to do that tomorrow night and that's them sorted. Hopefully.

Sorry Dinah I'm not very witty either so can't help with a name. I'll have a think though. When do you need to start it?

If you want to take on my name as a pen name and call yourself CheapsKate, that's fine by me ;) What about Advantageously Amy? As in - taking advantage of deals/glitches to save money? Or, at least, that's what my pregnancy brain is telling me it means :rotfl:

For CBC - just a small bag of junk removed from the house! Not sure how much I'll get done today, need to pack for the holiday (mine and Ryders bags ;)), clean the car and go pick up my cape coat (figured it will be baggy enough for maternity, but still good for non-pregnant-me) but I am giving the house a good clean so it's nice to come home to.. so I might get some stuff shifted??

Well done on shifting more junk Cinny! Yet again, I failed! :o I might brave the junk drawer of doom tonight and bin some stuff whilst I'm waiting for a cake to bake (for our office Bake Off). Or I might just sit on my butt and play Frozen Free Fall on my phone which is what usually happens! :p

Best of luck with the challenge Star! Typical that as soon as you begin the kiddies need something particular for school, but great that you had the supplies at home to make something and I'll bet they end up looking better than anything the other kid's parents buy! :)

Although, speaking of the RWC, we got Zach the cutest little rugby kit! It's got allofthesquees! :happyhear

We put him in it on Sunday for about 10 minutes (it's all we dared risk with it being all white! ;)) and he looked flipping adorable! DH has Friday evening off to watch the first game and is excited about dressing Zach up to watch at least some of it with him, just have to find some long blue socks since they didn't come with the baby kit (the 'proper' kit was too big for him!) :) We're away for the final so we're going to be *those* Brits with their kid in an England kit on holiday! :o

Hope Heidi gives you a nice rest today! :) And I hope Ben slept better last night!

Argh, the drawer of doom remains doomful! SIL 'quickly popped round' to pick something up last night and stayed for 2 hours! I had to bake my cake whilst she was yabbering on at me (so I have no idea if I messed up the recipe as she kept distracting me) and she talked all the way through Bake Off! I love her to bit but... not so much on busy Wednesday nights! ;)

    Maybe tonight?! :o

ETA: More ARGH! Just been checking the recipe (as we have to present the recipe to the judges to prove that we've baked and not just decorated something shop bought!) and realised that yes, I have screwed the cake up! Too much vanilla and I forgot the bicarb! So... tonight I will be baking another cake then desperately getting it to cool down quickly so I can decorate it too! Disarrrrrster darrrrling!

  • Afternoon all!

Sorry, I popped my head back in then disappeared again for weeks! Can't believe how quick the days go. But I have the day off 'cause I had another liver biopsy yesterday so thought I'd catch up! So nice to not be rushing around for once.

You asked what I'd been up to, and the answer is not a lot, yet heaps going on! Working hard but it's been a tough year. My Mum moved up here but has since been told she is fit to work by the DWP which is ludicrous. Apparently 25 years of doctor and psychiatric notes mean nothing. I don't know if any of you know anyone who's had to go for an assessment but they don't take mental health into consideration at all. So we're waiting for an appeal date for that at the mo.

OH was made redundant and it hit him hard, he had to quit his masters degree and spent most of the year under a bit of a dark cloud. Luckily he seems to be back on the up but I still worry.

I finally paid off all £10k of my debt and the saving for the house has begun! Can't wait for us to get our own place now. I've rejoined WW too (got a great deal through the health plan at work) as I'm the heaviest I've been in years so need to get that sorted.

Think that's me up to date! :o

What cake are you making Birdie?! It's hard to be polite when people are interrupting Bake Off! :p

Great news on Quidco, Dinah and NIMs new job too! Hope you're both ok, realised this year how difficult it can be to keep everything together when your head doesn't want to. You're both doing amazing x

Love the scan pic Cinny, are you taking weekly bump pics or anything?! Good to see little Fox is growing nicely!

I've forgotten everything else I wanted to respond to but hope everyone is ok! xx
