Delurking to say I like the idea of CBC. I've been on a decluttering mission all year. I was doing so well and then we had the school holidays and I feel I'm back to square one.

Cinny you must be getting excited now with all the baby stuff in the house
Birdie I use the same logic when I'd rather make something than declutter :rotfl:

Ugh to the lack of sleep. It's very hard to function or be rational without a decent nights sleep so my sympathies are with you Dinah.
And double ugh to feeling harrassed and ragged. I think it's the time of year TBH. I am feeling so behind myself at the moment. DD had her 4th birthday at the weekend and it was a really great day but I was in no way organised financially for the cost of her soft play party and her present. DS also started big school and DD Montessori so I'm giving myself until the end of September to get back into my groove. I am managing to make the lunches at night time which is a big thing for me. I'm even making my own. Lol
Re: the clothes. I think it's a great idea. I put myself on a self-imposed shopping ban on kiddies clothes at the start of this year and lasted 5 months. I was very impressed as I buy them way to much clothes. I don't buy a whole lot for myself but I am trying to lose weight at the moment so definitely not buying anything until I get to my target. I feel a bit like that, have lots of clothes that do the job but none that I love. I am going to treat myself when I do lose the weight though. I am hoping it will be in time for Xmas!
I love the concept of CBC. It would be great to be sitting in the house on Xmas Eve (before the new clutter arrives) with a clean and tidy house.
Birdie - I wish I lived near you to attend a frame making class. I think they are the best thing since sliced bread. I really do

Sorry to be "that" person but NIM needs to buck up! :rotfl: It's fair enough being a bit lax in keeping plans up to date when it's just two of you, but it's a bit unfair when you guys already have so much on your plate to throw a spanner in the works by just not being organised?! I'd just stop cancelling your own, nicely written out, plans to accommodate
But then again I'm cruel
It's good to know you can spread the payments out for your classes! Although I'd be tempted to politely decline FIL's offer of paying the card. Interest isn't fun and his heart's in the right place, but it might help things be a lesson learnt to not use credit cards ever again? Once we stopped accepting family bail-outs (or, as I had to start calling it to myself, "enabling") we got so much better with cutting up cards and accounts and not going back into debt.
Glad you had a nice break! Think you timed it well for the last of the nice weather too. Really looking forward to our holiday now, weather is forecast to be chilly and rainy and I can't wait!!
We got Sky Movies back a few weeks ago, had an email ping through today to say £20 cashback has tracked so that's nice! :j Just waiting for Ryder's crate refund, and MM money, and we're up on life.
It's surreal, Star! We were measuring out furniture for the nursery last night, still can't believe we'll be bringing a tiny person home to put in there? I suppose when I'm being woken up at 2am by a screaming meatloaf (and that's just OH
) it might sink in. Hope you're well!
For CBC - One ikea sized bag of clutter removed, and one box of recyclables shipped out
Going to go through the "black hole" drawers in the kitchen/living room today for a tidy up.0 -
Please stay delurked Star! You're on a no new clothes challenge for a year aren't you? How's it going?
I'm at a rare but happy state of actually being happy with what I've got in my wardrobe for once! I got rid of loads earlier this year and been building it back up to a serviceable amount (mostly through sales and charity shops)... I just need some new work shoes and I'd like a couple of summery-holiday shoes but otherwise, I'm good!
Dinah - with the clothes that you're a bit 'meh' about, as long as you've got other things that do the job better (i.e. smart tops, jeans etc) then just get rid if it doesn't bring you joy. I am still to read the Marie Kondo book but just picking up on this concept has helped me clear out a lot of things already.
Why the heck isn't NIM helping you out by doing something so easy as telling you where he's going and when? And why is it up to you to cover for his lack of planning? You're both parents, you both have to have responsibility for childcare and general family stuff, it shouldn't always fall to you.
My decluttering didn't happen last night.
I printed off some photos for my frame but that's as far as I got even with my backwards making-is-decluttering logic! TBH, it was the first night in nearly 2 weeks that Z-man fell asleep before 8 so I just enjoyed being able to actually have a bit of an evening to myself!
Hope Ben sleeps well tonight! There's a reason they use sleep deprivation as a torture method...

So exciting measuring up for the nursery. I remember when we set up the nursery for Max. I would just wander in and out every day trying to imagine what it would be like with a little baby in it. Such a special, happy time!Total (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947

Well done on the cleared stuff Cinny! :T
You're too kind CMD!
And well done on going 5 months without buying clothes for your LOs. It's so hard to not just buy everything you see because it's just all so darn cute! Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. Cross posted with CMD and Birdie too! :rotfl:
I thought you did so well on the no clothes challenge, CMD
I did a "no spend January" where I didn't spend money on anything other than bills and food the whole month - and after how spent and gluttonous you feel after Christmas it was just the ticket! I do, however, remember doing some last minute online sale shopping at like, 8:30pm on NYE. But it was still December so it was okay
I wouldn't worry about not decluttering during the week nights, Birdie! Might as well save it for the weekend or bored rugby season nights when you can get properly into it!0 -
Week nights are easier = kids are asleep! Unfortunately they've also knackered you out.
Okay I need to set up a blog and a Facebook page for money saving articles, lots of deals, money loopholes etc. Can anyone think of what to call myself/my site? I'd prefer something a little tongue in cheek like Skintdad rather than something twee but I'm utterly flummoxed.
Dentist done, come straight from there to pick grace up at nursery but I'm nearly 10 minutes early so catching up on my phone, is it weird that this feels like some sort of holiday?!Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

Will think on about a name, I am kind of useless with them at the best of times - sure Birdie will think of some good ones as she's always good with that kind of thing!

We are going through the 3/4 month regression so feel your pain with the sleep. On the other hand school seems to be knackering poppy out and she is sleeping in later in the morning which is great apart from I forgot to set my alarm this morning so we were rushing to get ready for school.
I like the idea of CBC as well. We are doing a carboot hopefully this week then anything left is going.
Glad you had a nice time at Alton towers Dinah. Agree that Nim needs to buck up with his keeping you informed about dates etc. can you sit down once a week and get him to put it all on the calendar.
Cinny - so exciting getting all the little baby things ready. I am going to get a jumperoo for Heidi soon. Didn't have one with poppy but heard great things about them.
CMD - can't believe your dd is 4! Hope they are both getting on ok at school/ Montessori .0
