Taking Children out of School in Term Time

Personally, I think your opportunity to say about not going has now long gone. If your brother has been talking about it for months before this, and has gone to the trouble of booking accommodation, then things like other costs and taking the children out of school should have been thought about long before this. Even at initial planning without a date, it would have been the time to say about the girls and school time.
Yes, your reasons for not wanting to go are valid. But there surely would have been ample opportunity to say something before this? If I was the brother, I would be annoyed too if you said you could no longer go.
Yes, and I get that.
I had no visions of not going until today. It's only when I sat down and have actually worked everything out that I realise it's more like to be hell than an actual nice time.
But I will go, but I think I will talk to my parents about going from the Thursday to the Tuesday, so minimises the amount of time there.
I will also not drive to the airport as I think it will be simpler (albeit more expensive) to get a cab there as at least drops you at departures and there's no faffing about getting a shuttle bus from the car park.Pink Sproglettes born 2008 and 2010

I offered as I do have the 15 month 0% thing. And I owe my dad money for my car, so would have been mean not to offer.Pink Sproglettes born 2008 and 2010

I have asked my mum to get the forms from the school when she picks up my eldest today and I will fill them in and send them in tomorrow.Pink Sproglettes born 2008 and 2010

Can you really afford this? Especially if you're looking to move within a year or so. Mortgage lenders are much stricter on affordability these days and credit card debt + owing to family doesn't look good.0 -
As the brother has told her they will pay it after the wedding -it isn't especially realistic to assume the CC debt will still be there 12 months from now .
As for a private loan from parent to child for a car-I doubt many people add that as an outstanding debt when applying for a mortgage (whether they should or not is an entirely different discussion and has even less to do with the OP's question then even your creditcard comment)I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

Are these fines legally binding? I very much doubt they equate to much.I can't add up.0

They will also be moving though and may find that paying it back quickly isn't as much a priority as they thought it would be. Anybody taking on debt in their own name has to account for the possibility that they will be the one who has to ultimately pay it back.
The brother could always apply for a 0% credit card too and pay for it in his own name if that's the plan anyway, they aren't exactly hard to come by!
As for debt to parents, if the OP has a regular amount going out of her bank, the lender will see it when examining her statements as part of the affordability checks. As I said, they are much much stricter now than they were a few years ago.0 -

Yes, if you don't pay you can be prosecuted and up with a criminal record, a much bigger fine and a court order to attend parenting classes.0 -

Your brother has put you in a very difficult position because you know that he isn't getting married in Greece - he's getting married here and the event in Greece is just a - what? a re-enactment, a pretend ceremony?
Are you going to have to lie on the request form?0 -

A wedding ceremony is still a wedding ceremony -the fact it isn't legally binding doesn't not make it a wedding ceremonyI Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole
