It sounds like everyone replying on here is scamming the system to

OP Unless you have good concrete usable evidence you cant report them.

Yes you are all right this man may well be unfit to work & with out decent evidence it is just speculation.

As for you all accusing the OP of making the accusation only because they were refused a payout is just as bad as the OP accusing the man of fraud.

You all forget there is a major problem in this country of people abusing the system for there own gain or because there to lazy to work & the easiest way to do that is health problems or popping out kids (but thats another topic)

those people shouldnt be allowed to get away with it as its costing all of us out there working hard earning there own way in life.

If your genuine you have nothing to hide!

Let the back lash begin
the OP is obviously bitter about the PIP refusal, and about the fact that the alleged 'fraudster' receives DLA, otherwise why would they have mentioned it?
it isn't relevant to the query they posed

I wish people would spend more time on how to extricate themselves from the benefits system - or how to avoid going on them in the first place - rather than devoting time to investigating the lives of other people on benefits.....

However...OP, if you really believe the guy in question is gaming the system, by all means report him. Take a few video clips of him dancing, or walking briskly to the pub then hobbling around the corner.

In you own case, if your condition means you need support that the rest of us don't require, or it limits you in some ways that qualify for disability benefit, then appeal, and get those who provide that support to help you with your claim. Yes, the system isn't infallible. Sometimes deserving would be claimants fall through the cracks. Your solution is to appeal, and this time to make sure you have the necessary assistance/forms/letters/represnetations from whichever health professionals or other people in your life support you in managing your condition.

Only you can decide whether or not to report someone.

I will say this though, I have seen the results of an investigation where the claimant who was accused of being on the fiddle was genuine.

A lot of people use the quote, 'If you have nothing to hide then you have nothiung to fear'. That however isn't quite true.

The investigation of my friend left him unable to sleep at night. He started to believe that he was doing wrong in claiming and had to be stopped on several occassions from cancelling his claim.

His mental health which was already very fragile deteriorated to the extent that he was put into care for a period of 10 weeks.

At the end of the investigation, which took 4 months to resolve due to delays with the DWP, he was a broken man. He is genuine and he retained his benefits.

He no longer leaves the little flat he lives in for fear that someone will report him.

He got no apology from the DWP and as this part of their normal duties he can claim no compensation for the significant reduction in health that he has sufferred because of the investigation or the additional costs he incurred.

We all have way out there ridiculous stories, you are assuming the person OP says would fall to pieces. It's not true for most people that we are so mentally fragile. If anyone accused me of faking my injury I would supply conclusive medical evidence, which most physical injuries have.

It's a crime they suspect, I'd not like to be accused of a crime but I'd understand if reasonable and not malicious why I need to defend.

Would you lose sleep, refuse to leave your house and have a breakdown if asked if Vi? Or laugh and supply evidence?

why are you asking me that?
my post replied to one that said the posters on this forum are doing the same to the OP as we say they are doing to the man in question ....
accusing them of being bitter without proof ( the OP is accusing the man in question of benefit fraud)
i dont understand the relevance of your question

if someone other than the DWP or medical professional asked me to prove i was blind, id just tell them to sod off and mind their business ;)
  • No I wouldnt. I would let them get caught through their own greed in the end. And I would not want to be found out for being an informer and end up being abused myself. More and more people are getting caught now so hopefully theyre be soon, thats if they are defrauding.
  • this is all the fault of this coalition, cobbled together govt they have set neighbour on neighbour, friend on friend and family on family, and WE have allowed them to do it
it really is like banging your head against a brick wall on here sometimes

If he got £250k 19 years ago his injuries must have been pretty severe- that would be a lot now let alone then.

If the Drs receptionist is gossiping about pts that's shocking & she needs reporting.

If his injury in muscular skeletal and he now has Osteo Arthritis (as do I) then he almost certainly has good days & bad days - I speak from personal experience.

I have not claimed PIP as my symptoms don't warrant it, but as I am young to have this condition it's likely that in the future my mobility will be limited. I'd rather still be in good nick than qualify for Pip any day. There are some folk with OA who do qualify & I don't begrudge them.
