if you knew someone was abusing the system would you report it?

I did not report either of them. I told them that what they were doing WAS fraud, and left what they did about it to their own consciences.0 -
Always amazes me that people can't make up their own mind if to report someone, they come here and seek permission,OP if you are 1000% certain then go ahead, but I'm afraid some of what you say doesn't ring true e.g £250,000 comp 19 years ago???really??
as for your own epilepsy you must be one of the lucky ones who's condition is well controlled, mine sadly is not but you are welcome to my version of epilepsy and my benefits if i can have your version....0 -
I know someone who works at the drs surgery he goes to they also live facing him. He has refused help to get his weight down ie see a dietician and even refused tokens for fruit and veg (he doesn't like them). After the accident he had to have pins in his legs and was due to have them redone last year but he cancelled the op twice and didn't even go to the pre op assessment. The crutches were either bought off a site or he took them from a hospital. He manages to get off a very high bar stool with no difficulty and walks to the pub a good twenty minutes from his house and when he gets just around the corner slows down and hobbles. Just before Christmas a pub employee had a birthday do and a buffet was put on and music, he couldn't have got to the food quick enough and I and others seen him do the twist with his wife (who is also obese and on ESA). No im not envious I work 30 hours in a job I like im just saying when I first started with the seizures almost 4 years ago the consultant a the hospital signed me unfit for 2 months and I only got SSP and not full pay I was told I could try to claim PIP as many other people with certain health conditions in employment can but I was told I did not qualify. He drives a people carrier even though hee has 2 grown sons who still live with them, how does someone afford to buy that and tax insurance etc on benefits?Britain is great but Manchester is greater0

you do realise that the drs receptionist is breaking the law by discussing his circumstances with you?
sounds like you all have too much time on your hands and too much interest in other peoples business.
i hope your contact at the drs gets their comeuppance and is shown the door!
and by the way .... i hope you don't use that particular doctors or your medical history is also probably common knowledgi doubt you were advised to claim PIP 4 tears ago as it was still only a concept!
you are so eaten up with resentment towards this man that you are ruining your own life by wasting your time snooping in his affairs0 -
If I knew someone was cheating the system (unlike OP who doesn't know) I would report them. I'm not sure what good it would do, my son lived with me for two years before his adoption was finalised, after that his biological mother had no form of legal link to him. Despite this she was able to continue receiving all benefits related to him despite myself and social services approaching to report her fraud.
She was even successful in having the CSA contact me to pay her maintenance, as the CSA values child safety they also told her my place of work and phone number, it took almost two years and having money deducted direct from my wages before it was stopped, I never saw that money again and despite applying every year I never received child benefit as she was getting it. I made over a hundred calls for a woman claiming for a child that had nothing to do with her and it made absolutely no difference.0 -

Maybe so, but I felt it was not my place to report them.
One person came off Jobseekers' Allowance and lived solely off her lodgers' rents.
The other one, it wasn't actually him who was fraudulently claiming, it was one of his daughters who was claiming single parent benefits whilst having a live-in partner. I don't know what, if anything, they did about it. This was about five years ago, she still has the same partner but is now working.
So, both water under the bridge now.(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0 -
just because someone has a medical condition does not automatically entitle them to DLA/ PIP its how the condition effects them on a daily basis i know someone who gets PIP for epilepsy and someone who doesn't because its effects the other person more than the first even thought they have the same condition .
some people may think this is a little harsh but its just my opinion on it .you often get a lot of people who seem to do this type of thing when they have no clue what else the other person suffers apart from what they can see and make up with their own minds i do get the feeling that this is one of them cases weather he got a quarter of million nineteen years ago its neither hear nor there its comes down to the fact that you cant get DLA or PIP for your own epilepsy and he gets it for conditions you dont really know much about .
that's just my opinion0 -
Are not overweight people allowed to go to a party?
I say this because this seems to be what the OP is basing their assumption on that there is nothing wrong with the couple, when really they don't have a clue what their problems are. What the man got in compensation is irrelevant.
My son's girlfriend claims a low-rate disability allowance. To look at her you would think there is nothing wrong with her (you might start to wonder if you spoke to her, however). There are such things as invisible disabilities.

I'd be reporting the Dr's employee rather than the claimant!0

This person should lose their job.
