You mean in my post #27? I can see them there as well.

Not in your post though (if you can, they are probably cached on your PC).

Yes. It's basic common sense TBH. The fence was built with the house so yes it is yours.

Why all the fuss? Go and talk to the neighbour and see if they would be willing to split the cost. 2 panels isn't going to be too much.

I don't think that there is any requirement for anyone to actually maintain a fence. The only requirement is for them to mark the boundary. A wire stretched between two posts is sufficient.
In my experience it has always been far better to share the costs of fence repairs. Provided that you both agree on the type of fence.
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.
  • You would need to buy the plan from the Land Registry. This is done on line. The fence ownership would not have been assigned to another party when the new house was built, so it either belonged to the owner of the adjacent land or to you. Without clarification from the Land Registry plan, it is more than likely yours.

I am not making a fuss, I am seeking answers to things I know nothing about, and peeps have been very helpful...your comment was not! if you knew my neighbours you would not have said "go talk to them"

thank you all for help, think I need to get in touch with Land Registry and obtain relevant paperwork as I also need clarification on my shared drive. This estate was a shoddy job when erected along with all the paperwork

Whose fence is it - yours, theirs or joint?

If it's their fence, it's entirely down to the neighbours whether it's repaired or left as it is.

I am in the same situation, I have checked on the deeds and because its on the right side, its my neighbours responsbility.

Are you saying they dont legally have to do anything? That worries me as its 2 fence panels, there a huge gap now and its a real eye sore.

In this scenario, if my neighbours were being difficult (i dont expect them tbh) but if they were, would I be able to lodge a complaint to someone after giving them a reasonable time? I am quite desperate to get it sorted as I am in a semi and there house is a detached and they have a side entrance whereas I dont so that fence is a bit of a security risk for me.

Even if I had to pay towards the cost, I be happy to come to some sort of agreement as long as it wasn't extortionate.

Rather than fencing which I expect to cost a few bob, would boundary hedging make more sense? Okay it would mean trimming this a few times a year but would it be more stable than fencing?

Any thoughts/advice on this would be most appreciated
