Spent £27.42 today in A!di. Noticed that they had brought their large blocks of cheese down in price by £0.50
We had the left over pork last night made into a curry and just a small tub gone into the freezer ready to top a jkt potato one day.
Steak out of the freezer tonight for tea and will be getting some mince out for tomorrow when I go in to make a cuppa in a while.

Have worked out a meal plan for the next month. Am going to do 2 big online shops a month for most of the groceries. So each shop will see us through a fortnight worth of food, maybe more.

The meal plan will be flexible, open to change, so I can take advantage of seasonal food offers etc.

I've made two fortnightly meal plans and nothing from the first fortnight will be repeated in the second fortnight. Had to search my brains a bit to come up with so many meal ideas. I am so pleased with myself. It's going to be so much easier to organise the shopping this way. It will actually give me peace of mind knowing what we will be eating for our main meal each day, rather than panicking in the late afternoon, wondering what dinner will be!

  • Evening everyone,

Just popping in to update my spend. Only popped to Mr Ts for milk and cereal spent £2.42. I had a 56p price promise to use. They also have 750g of Kelloggs cornflakes on offer for £1.98.

I think my weekly shop will be very small later on this week as DH won't get paid until next week, so will have to be very creative:rotfl:

I already meal plan a month at a time, but like you it's very flexible but it's great knowing what we're going to be eating without the worry.

I used to shop weekly but seemed to be spending a lot so this month decided to do a big monthly shop at the beginning of the month and then topping up weeklly with fresh stuff. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to have made much, if any, difference to the amount spent as I didn't really get absolutely everything when I did the monthly shop; so think I'm going to try fortnightly shops next month to see if that helps.

Monthly is much better than doing weekly in terms of time but nothing else for me.

Off to do another shop this morning but hoping it won't be more than about £15 but we shall see.

My March GC ends today and my April GC starts tomorrow.

I am sad to say that i lost count, but dont think i managed to stay within my budget. Will definitely try harder in April :)

I am not sure where i went wrong really. I think this month i am going to do 1 big monthly shop online (tomorrow) then whatever is left over i will withdraw in cash and split into 4, and do 4 weekly shops for fruit & veg etc.
I hope this will work better...

  • Finding it really intressting reading weekly vs monthy shopping as I am still not sure what to do. Heres my delema today guys my oh is really fed up at the moment so I want to chear him up was going to take him out for a curry but he said hes to fed up to go out so I offfered to get a take away still a no. Both of these where going to come out of another budget. So I decided to make him a chinese chew main his favourite but needed to buy ingredients. Do I add them to the gc as would not have added either the meal out or take away but it is still food shopping? What do you reckon?

I would but everyone has a different way of working.

I've just found some great bbcg00df00d recipes for spring so have added them to menu plan inc one with new pots and asparagus as they are ald1 super 6 atm.

I'm at £140 ish of my £150 food budget this month as we had a weekend away and I had to take things we wouldn't normally have. Still, won't be too far over budget so a good month so far. April starts on 25th March for me.
