Just updating my signature with my last two weekly spends.
I spent £19.38 in morrisons last weekend. I used a £3 off £22 spend so couldn't have got much closer if I tried!
Bought milk, options hot chocolate, fruit, veg and a couple of things that were on a really good offer that I knew I couldn't get cheaper elsewhere. Then yesterday I did my weekly shop in aldi. I will get the voucher on Thursday so only 4 days really so only got the essentials- fruit, veg, milk, ham and yogurts so spent £16.97.
£33.35 to add to signature which means I have £90 left for next week but really running out of essentials so will needs to be a big stock up!

  • Hi everyone. I've got £2 to last me til Wednesday. Spent £34.00 yesterday in Iceland, aldi and b and m. All pack up stuff has been bought and dinners have been bought and planned. The £2 will go on milk and eggs tomorrow or Tuesday from iceland. Did buy eggs but dd dropped them and broke 8 out of the 15 I bought. The rest were used for breakie this morning so I'm all out.

Can't wait for the new month to start for me on Thursday. Need quite a big stock up. Good luck everyone x

  • Evening all, spent £17.50 today, top up/small shop in L*dl. Fresh fruit, veg, a little fish and some treat bits as well as milk. I'm not sure why but they seem to run out of semi skimmed milk all of the time!

I will have to join up again for the March challenge to stay on track.

    Off to update signature. :)

£6 in marks today for bits and pieces of veg and eggs. I have a £5 off £25 for them but there were no YSs and at their price even the 20% discount that the voucher would give me is not worth it. Will be back before the voucher expires to stock up on YS goodies, they seem to have the best ones early in the morning anyway.
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

Oops I have gone over my budget AGAIN this month :o

I might have made it till the 28th, but we passed a farm shop we occasionally go to, and it seemed mad not to go in and stock up, as the food is really good quality and keenly priced. I got 6 large fresh chicken legs, 2 duck legs, some kidneys to go with YS stewing steak that I already have (for a pie), two lots of different fish, potatoes, and a green olive loaf that DH sneaked into the trolley for £17.58. Obviously without the green olive loaf it would have been less, though still over budget. But there are a lot of meals there for the two of us.

So, I am over by £4.99, and realistically will need to buy milk, firelighters and a couple of other bits tomorrow :(

Oh well, I will try again in March.... although I seem to go over budget every month :o it is never by very much - I do find that it makes me think much more carefully about what I am spending.
  • Well i did I rough estimate (of what I can remember). This month has gone all to pot due to my rubbish health!

Anyway.... Think I have around £60 left. But I have a voucher from Mr T's saying if I spend £90 I get £13 off. Don't know if I should do a huge shop and just go over budget. Will mean I don't have to trail to shops for a while. My body is still exhausted and recovering.

Don't know what to do.... And yep, i know i'm rambling. Sorry guys.

frizzle it sounds like you have a solid plan. I am still trying to work out what the best way to shop for us is but I like your idea of stocking up at the start of the month :)

I was wondering do people keep large stocks in their cupboards and freezers, or do you just plan it either weekly or monthly and just keep the minimum amounts in?

Although I do have a rough menu plan in mind, I like to have a choice of things to cook for meals, so think this could be my downfall.:rotfl:
I am the same in that I like to have a choice. The way I do this though is to batch bake and bulk buy all the time.

So the answer really is that I do have well-stocked freezers and cupboards but do a weekly plan as well every week. However it's not set in stone and I can substitute if I change my mind as most of it's in the freezers. I even freeze my bread so that I can use as needed/wanted.

Hope you soon feeling better CP.

£90 is a huge shop for me and I personally wouldn't need enough from Mr T to cover it (unless I bought a load of drink) as I find them expensive for most things.

However, if you usually buy your meat etc from there then perhaps you could treat it as a 'bulk buy' and spread the cost over two or three months :)

We had another NSD here so hoping that I will not have much more to spend this month fingers xd.

Hope you all have a marvellous Monday

Roast pork for dinner tonight and saved the left overs for bbq pork baps and wedges for tomorrow.

Anybody know what I can do with chocolate nesquick (other than the obvious) just found a container that has just gone out of date. Kids don't really like choc milkshake (drunk it once in a blue moon!). Didn't know if I could use it instead f cocoa powder in a recipe?
