After a busy week / illness I am gradually catching up with things and can declare that my total for February is £46.25 which I am really chuffed about.
See you on the March thread.GC: Feb (16th Jan - 15th Feb) £46.25 / £50
Mar (16th Feb - 15th Mar) £61.96 / £700 -
so far so good this month :T
budget to end of yesterday was £146.95, less £6 for not feeding DS1 every day - so £140.95
to end of yesterday I'd spent £37.95 in shops, used £69.48 from stocks, and put £1.17 into my change jar - so a total charged to budget of £108.60. That's £32.35 under budget which is a healthy amount
It's going to take a bit of bashing next week though - desperately need chicken breasts, so will be popping to Costc0. Got the new book and they're not on offer, so at least I'll only be picking up one trayCheryl0 -
Lynnejk we have a common GC so for forgotten pack lunches the expense comes out of it, regardless of who buys. That's why I try to stay on top of the pack lunch business. He would forget and Pret would get richer.
We have a common GC as well and each week I buy the stuff for pack-ups for the coming week. We each make our own pack-ups according to what we fancy each day. If either of us 'forgets' or 'can't be bothered' then we have to buy food out of our own budgets to get through the day. Otherwise it would be too easy just to not bother some days iyswim and the food would get wasted
Small spend today on yoghurts, coleslaw and cheese = £4.90
Still on target for the month
Hope you all have a frugal Friday

Oh, I see what you mean, Lynnejk, good system! We do not have separate budgets, I set the GC budget and that's that. I tried to set other budgets but to run them and having to police the men of the house was not worth losing my sanity! Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0

Done my main shop yesterday and spent £45.14 which brings my monthly total to £145/£250. Didn't do a small shop this week as went to France on Tuesday which would be my normal top up shop day, however did buy a couple of bits which I needed but haven't taken from my GC budget but bought from alcohol budget (try to get to France to stock up 2-3 times a year as it's so much cheaper).
Should have some money left out of this month's budget as only next week's shops left for February. Anything left will be transferred to savings for bulk buys and/or Christmas.

Finished my month today and I made it! :j
This month was great for the first two/three weeks and then my car breaking threw me off and I lost track abit. I can't find receipts etc,but I've been through my online banking and counted up payments to L!dl, Te$co and Ald! and it comes to £191.74. Phew.
This was the first time I have done this and I thought we spent around £200 ish, but I wanted to see. I have learned a lot this month that I can put into action.
My main points are:- We buy a lot of cat litter! I need to find either a cheaper brand, or lock them outside more often:rotfl:
- Meal plans go to pot when you forget to take stuff out of the freezer or plans change. I need to be more flexible and always keep something in I can cook from frozen or the storecupboard.
- Don't let the other half say the lamb tagine is fine on the hob and he's set a timer. It won't be fine, it'll burn the saucepan and taste horrible...:o

So, I am declaring February challenge done! It is payday today. :j
I was under by £98 for the month with a total of £251.74/£350. That has been transferred to the savings account, the results from Jan and Feb is that baby's cot is now paid for without me really having to think about it too hard! All thanks to this thread and you lovely lot with your encouragement and just daily postings.
I'll keep an eye on the Feb thread as it draws to a close but have set myself up for March. I don't know whether to reduce as regardless of if I do or not, I'll transfer what's left in the account to savings come the end of the month.
Going to have a baking/cooking weekend to prep for the weeks ahead as I've been getting slack with taking stuff to work. How long til pay day?
March Grocery Challenge - £69.54 / £3000 -
A good £100 over budget this month. I am afraid I was doing too badly on the weight loss challenge to keep eating so many YS carbs!!!
I will be back once my weight is down a bit.2021 GC £1365.71/ £24000 -
Yesterday in A!di I spent £25.98 then today took mum to Te$co but didn't buy anything myself. Have to go to Morry's tomorrow as will need a few bits and daughter wants me to grab a bag of the potatoes for her while they are on offer. We still have half a bag so will wait until the next time the offer is on.
Last night we had beef and onions which was just like the Chinese and cost a lot less, added some broccoli and the last few radishes on the side for extra crunch.
Tonight is chicken casserole which is smelling lovely in the scMARCH £62.38/2500
