So, I had an errand to run today that happened to be very near to the Beckworth Emporium. Oh my goodness, that place is so full of-
    Temptation!

Oh, but I did need some carrots, and where else can you get Northampton blue cheese, and there was some paprika in the clearance section, which I've just run out of, and a massive non-Jif lemon, only 99p...

Ladies and gentlemen, do you know how many beautiful cakes I walked past? :A

So I did spend a bit, but I was really pretty good.

Hmm, things have gone a bit awry this week, my planned A*ldi shop spend went way over budget on Friday, the expected £40 kind of went up to £100!

We then went to Waitrose on impulse and treated ourselves to a £20 Valentine's day meal deal, which was, I have to say, superb, I added a couple of bits to it, like some pan fried scallops and rocket/tomatoes to the salmon mousse, and some asparagus to the main, but it was definitely the best meal deal that I have had.

So my £150 week ended up a £194 week, but you know what? We enjoyed our indulgence yesterday and now have a fridge and freezer full of lovely unprocessed, fresh and healthy food to see us through half term week (we don't really buy much processed food at all)

And to put the icing on the cake, I lost 3lbs in weight this week, so all this healthy food, albeit spending less than we used to spend, is paying off.

I am aiming to spend a lot less this coming week, so we should be able to even up the month's spending, even though the fridge and freezer are well stocked, we will need to buy more veg as the week goes on, and probably some fresh fish, milk, and berries and cream etc.

I think we will still be on track for less than £600 this month.
Making time for me now. Out with old habits and ideas, and open to change......:j
  • Well, I do hope that everyone is having a lovely Sunday afternoon.

I've just baked some chocolate orange muffins for lunches this week for OH (and myself, let's not pretend I'm going to leave them alone). :p

Popped into Wilko's yesterday for a couple of bits and pieces (hand soap, laundry liquid, scrubbing brushes and some new baking sheets). £8.95. So not too shoddy and used a voucher as well.

I have an online order in for Mr S for tomorrow. I had an £8 off voucher that they'd emailed me from not using online ordering since Christmas. That's around £46 but I'll confirm that tomorrow. As I get paid this week, that should be the last grocery shop of Feb. :D
How long til pay day?

Wow things have gona a bit pear shaped in the last week or two. I haven't managed to get on here at all.. We have been so busy, selling motorbike, buying a new car, chopping some 20 foot leylandii's down and trying to clear the branches etc... I think we have maybe 2-3 tip runs left and it will all be done... we then need to widen the stone (cutting back the lawn area) for a car, then plant a hedge that isn't quite as monstrous as leylandii... It really is non-stop.

However all of the above has meant a few trips to the local C*op, an unplanned takeaway and an extra mouth to feed in the form of my brother who has been helping us out.

I have kept all the receipts (I think) so I will try and dig them out and see where I am up to.

I now have a bit of a budget problem in that the new car has taken every penny due to the fuel to collect it, tax, ins all on top of the purchase. So I really need to tighten the purse strings for the rest of the month!!

Sorry that was a bit of a waffley post. I will try and get some figures and update my siggy :)

    Right siggy updated.

I have spent £287.76/£398.90 leaving me £111.14 for the month. I am not sure whether I will be able to do it or not. There doesn't seem to be much in my cupboards or freezer at all..

It isn't going to help that it is half term this week so I need to supply lunches and snacks for 4 hungry children.

    Wish me luck :)

Half way through the month and I'm at £57.79 - a bit over target due to an abundance of YSs :)
In the past I've felt a bit odd loitering by the reduced section, but I'm finding this forum helps me overcome this silliness...its also helping to vary my diet more, as I buy veg that I wouldn't normally. I'm eating like a queen!
