February 2015 Grocery Challenge

Just been adding up my receipts and updating my signature and now have just under £40 for the next 2 weeks. I may manage it as the freezer and fridge are full, but I'm going to have to be a lot more careful and resist the temptation to add to stores. I've had 6 NSDs so far this month but I seem to react to being good for a couple of days by going out and spending more.:o
I have managed to use up quite a few money-off coupons, so I'm pleased about that, but my shops were at T*sco/W8rose/Mr M and I wonder if I'd have saved by just getting everything from Ald*.0 -

all was fresh veg or frozen veg and fruit - we are going to try frozen sprouts cauli and broc if the texture and taste is fine this will save a fortune in wasted veg and trips to get more

£11 of bits and pieces, including some for tomorrow's packed lunch during our trip up North.
But tonight for a number of reasons we needed to go out to eat, and spent around £42, so this is going to impact quite dramatically on the GC budget. From tomorrow we will go away for 4 days (separate budget) so won't count the outings etc, but this month already looks towards an overspend, unless I am very VERY careful on my return.
£20 to be given to DS as well for any extra food he needs, so counting that too, it adds up to take my total to £170, scary. Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -

£4.47 in sainsbobs; £3 on rice milk that'll do me til the end of the month (I am going to try making my own one day, but today is not that day!) and £1.47 on YS
- mozerrella
- noodles
- casserole veg
- fresh pineapple
I'm very bad at prepping veg so if I can get pre prepped YS I do; and there always seems to be loads. I am not sure people really like veg! Anyway, I'm going to make a veg and lentil casserole with a pack of v8 juice that needs used up as a base. Sure I have some barley somewhere that'll go with.
Not sure about the noodles yet. I think I have stir fry veg *somewhere* under all the YS bagels and nut roasts... I really need to run that freezer down, I cannot find a thing! Might have to do a quick cheesey pasta, at least I know where the cheese is, and can add some sweetcorn for health..!2021 GC £1365.71/ £24000 -
£46.04 spent, on vegetables, going out tomorrow so needed things for lunch also I have someone coming for lunch next week - so covered that as well, plus a few things for the store cupboard on special offer.
After watching a programme last night I realised it was cheaper to use frozen fruit than to buy all the berries fresh so bought a couple of pks of basic berries. Hopefully I wont need much until the end of the month. At least I didn't spend on any impulse buys just what was on the list - so pleased about that.0 -
