An update to yesterday's spending as needed to go to butchers because we were supposed to be having sausages for dinner and the ones in the freezer which DH picked up cheap were horrible so I needed to replace them with my usual butcher's sausages. Bought enough to split into 3 dinners so 2 lots into the freezer for either later this month or next. Also bought some bacon as we're having fry up at the weekend and also liver and bacon. Will need to go back to butchers tomorrow to get the liver as he didn't have any in. Was quite a big spend of £12.68 but worth the cost to have decent meat.

So spend for this week has crept up to £67.05/£250, so gone over a bit on what I was hoping per week so hopefully will spend a bit less next week.

Just spent £77 in sainsbugs - had 'help' from my 14 yr old who has an inset today. Hopefully we won't need to do a big shop tomorrow although I did forget to get yogurt and chillies for the curry.

Think we're doing ok so far. Will need to add it up correctly when I go onto the main computer.

    Morning All :)

I am off to Aldi today for the weekly shop. I am so amazed that i only spent £12 last week! I dont think that i have ever done that before!

Definitely need to spend more than that this week though. Need washing powder, washing up liquid and a whole host of other stuff. Think I'll spend close to my max of £50 this week.

    Well i am surprised!

I ended up spending £36.49. BUT £7.36 of that was spent on cat stuff (I am trying her on raw food so bought some chicken wings, ox heart and pigs liver) and £4 on a bottle of wine (i count that as a necessity, but i can see how some people may not ;)). So that means i spent £25.13 on food for the week. BUT, i didnt have to buy pasta, rice, quinoa, meat or cleaning stuff (apart from a pair of marigolds).

7.99 spent on chicken food for the month. This brings me to £78.51 spent so far in February.

I have updated my signature :)
  • So today I've spent £9.90 in M&*, £8.77 in Tesc* and £32.29 in Costc*.

The Costc* spend will last a while though as have stocked up on ciabatta, lamb and cleaning products.

Hoping for a cheaper month from now on though.

First spends of the month and it came to £31.33 its certainly going to be a much harder challenge this month with the reduced budget but would love to achieve it if for no other reason than I can.

Hi folks, you're all so inspiring, great to see so many people doing so well with their budgets!

A NSD for me today, will be booking a T*sco shop for tomorrow, but aiming for that to stay under £60, which will mean that this first week will be a total of £127 spent, nicely under my budget aim of £150, and roughly £100 under my previous spending, which was clearly well out of control.
Making time for me now. Out with old habits and ideas, and open to change......:j
  • Well, I forgot rule #1, never shop on an empty stomach. Popped into Poundland to see if I could find any bargains, left with a double pack of Jaffa Cakes, a packet of Mallows and some Garlic Mayo. It could have been worse, but that's another £3 from our budget.

On the plus side, we have everything we need for the weekend, so we don't need to spend anything else until Monday. Even then it's only going to be on odds. :)

Just bought myself a midweek delivery saver scheme with Mr T.... as a birthday present to DS2, meaning it comes out of my presents budget and I don't have to debate whether to take it from my grocery budget or not :D

He got in touch to say he'd got 4 codes to hand out. Each person using one gets an annual scheme at half price, and for each one used he gets 2,000 points - which he'll double up to spend in a cycling supplies shop (meaning he gets £40 of stuff).

I don't spend enough to use delivery, but my budget for his birthday present is £15 which is the cost of the midweek scheme after applying the 50% discount. So I spend £15, and he gets £40 to spend on stuff he wants which sounds like a winner to me.

And then there's a chance I could get my money back next year, as they claim to refund you if you don't save by having the scheme (ie. the slots you use over the year would have cost less if paid for individually than you paid for the scheme). So by rights I should get a full refiund as I won't have used it at all ;)

My DD is doing the same for him :D

So that's 2 vouchers used, and 2 more for him to find a home for.......
