Hope DS is on the mend and over the worst by now. We do EOTS here too, the children love coming down to see what he has been up to.
    June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!
  • Great to have another EOTS-er! Randomly DH left a knife in the lounge not far from where elf was so I was out of bed like lightening this morning after I heard.. mummy, elf has got hold of a knife..

Little man still poorly, so it falls to me tomorrow to miss work if he isn't better.

£1 on p-base tonight and my £10 voucher from boots arrived, will stock up on hairspray for 2016 - :-)

So quiet on surveys at the moment.. busy at work and busy life!

  • Taking advantage of the quiet to wrap presents..

Forgot to say the new washer arrived and i can't believe how awesome it is.. so quiet and a bit teccy.. for the first time ever - I had to read an instruction manual for a washer!

DH got some good news of a 1% pay rise backdated to April and a small Christmas bonus. Really tempted as my back pay is defo going through to actually have a little bit extra ourselves this month and then pay off the washing machine, carpet and send whatever is left to the CC and OP equally.

Anyhoo must get back to these presents as they won't wrap themselves!

  • Congrats on the extra pay! Splitting it between fun/various debts sounds like a good plan. :)
  • Dilemma here.. longer time readers may remember that little man didn't have the easiest of starts to School, well a few more things have gone on and we just aren't 100% happy with the School. We are debating whether to move them.. but it feels such a massive decision and how do I know if it's right. Sounds silly, but I don't think their teacher likes him at all, and we know from the 4 Teachers, there is another one that looks dreadful..we've both heard her yelling at the kids and it's totally unprofessional, although they aren't in that class they will be in 2/3 years.

They've both got friends and they are doing well in their reading and writing.. but someone said to me what matters is whether they are happy and she probably is ok, but at least one day a week, we have the 'don't want to go' which is probably normal for a 4yr old.

There is another school which is a good one that has space and I'm just overthinking this at the moment as the end of term would be a good time to move I guess.

DH isn't really on board with moving, but I make no allowances when it comes to my kids in that I want them to be happy and enjoy School and I want to be happy with it. With house moves and job moves, they moved pre school a bit and two settings I took them out of after a day as I wasn't happy even though everything seemed Ok when we looked around. maybe I'm too fussy.. but I just figure if we are going to move, now is the best time when they are young etc.

Just feels like a lot of little things are niggling away and the Teacher is bugging me as to how she is with little man. We have been in once and I don't particuarly want to go in again

    I'd welcome any thoughts though...

No kids so I probably shouldn't weigh in, but what happens if you move for the new school and then end up in a similar predicament in a few years (bad teacher/bad school)? Would you move again?

    Afternoon DF0D,

I work in a school office admitting new children and since I've been in that job its really surprised me how children move around between schools a lot. The other thing is they settle really easy and its usually the parents crying at the gate!

I would say make an appointment to look around the other school. You should get a feeling for the school and this might help with the decision.

Neither of my 2 have not wanted to go to school so I'm not sure it is normal for them to be saying at least once a week they don't want to go. They went to a preschool didn't they?

DD1s teacher was so awful last year and the worst thing was the school backed her up and said parents were winding each other up in the playground. DD has lost a lot of confidence from this cow but is slowly building back up. We were planning on moving them earlier in the year but decided to see what came of September. If you're going to worried about the teachers further down the line I think thats your decision made. Luckily cow of a teacher left in July so we won't get her again!!!

Christmas would be a good time for them to move so I would be ringing the other school on Monday.

Yay to the payrise and bonus xx

It's tricky and I went through similar with DS in Year 2. Even took him to look around another school, but ended up him staying put - only because the Classroom Assistant was lovely and wonderful and looked out for him until he'd moved to the next year - and after I'd been in to see the Deputy Head.

I would look to escalate and discuss with the Deputy or the Head and see if you can solve that way first. Whilst it's feasible to move them this time, they will always come across teachers they don't like, get on with or that don't like them, but it's so hard when they're so young as they're still babies really. At 8/9 your DS will be better equipped to not let shouty teacher be an issue I'd have thought.
