Sorry it all got on top of you, debtfree - I'm certainly thinking about when to switch things on/off much more than I used to. It's okay to feel sorry for yourself for a bit, you know, especially when you ally that with the knowledge that you're not the worst of in the world. You're not, but it's still difficult. Take care.2023: the year I get to buy a car4

It felt like these last two years of Covid were finally coming to a close and we could see the light at the end of the tunnel - only to find its an oncoming train! Its really understandable to feel a bit low, great to have a plan though. I've got to have that focus too"Think of many things, do one"

Hi debtfreeonwday, we took the decision to stop oping for a while and concentrate on saving for a while too. We're saving towards a new bathroom/new car and whilst we are still paying nursery fees there's no way we can save and op. I think DH and I are currently in denial about rising prices but I we're going to have to sit down and redo our budget now that we know what our council tax and water bill is going to be for the year. Well done for your 19 year plan and happy saving for the wood burnerMortgage-free wannabe 2025 £571/30004

I can vouch for lighting a stove rather than turning on the heating. We do have an electric on-all-the-time range in winter that heats the rooms upstairs if we leave the doors open. We also revert to a double burner (bottled) gas hob and microwave/grill half oven for summer with the odd slow cooker or thermal cooker meal. 1/8th of the winter level of usage in summerSave £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £9586.01 out of £6000 after August (158.45%)
OS Grocery Challenge in 2025 I am at £2135.07/£3000 or 71.17% of my annual spend so far
I also Reverse Meal Plan on that thread and grow much of our own premium price fruit and veg, joining in on the Grow your own thread

Big girl pants on and I’ve shook off the glum!
Applied for another job last night and the rang this morning and I have an interview in a few weeks. Spoke to the man who will interview me and they were super encouraging about my application saying they will bend totally on flexibility given my experience. Would mean we would be about £220 up per month. Tax credits are reducing at a crazy rate so I’ll be grateful to get away from them. I also have the option (if I feel brave enough) to ask them to consider appointing me above starting salary given I’ve done the job for 5 years previously and (blowing my own trumpet) I’m good at it.£3 pcone survey done and need 1 more ipsos point for payout. Amazon item arrived this morning for DD and it wasn’t what we expected. Started to do a return and they said keep it and we will refund you. Bonus!DFW (08/08) £64,346.53 Gone (02/19)
