Re wood stores - I got a couple of hardwood crates for free from FB marketplace and tipping one of these up on its side gives an open-fronted store for wood at minimum faff. They are the ones that paving slabs come in, not the same as softwood pallets (which make excellent compost bins but do rot after 10 years (she says, speaking from experience..)
We also have no gas. Oil price last night had "dropped" from over £2 a litre to £1.67 yesterday - this is still profiteering by either refinery or wholesalers as the duty on fuel oil is far lower than diesel but the price is the same now, and was higher this week.Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £9586.01 out of £6000 after August (158.45%)

Just noticed Netflix are increasing their prices again. Need to consider whether we carry on with it. Though we do only have the basic package and I possibly need to binge watch Bridgerton later this month. 😂
Wood store well on the way after DH made a great start on it. Plan is to order a wood delivery soonish, not that prices alter much through the seasons here.Need to pick up free bits of slate and wall today that I got from marketplace. A job for the future but the wall in the front garden needs a bit of TLC but should be able to sort it now without spending any pennies save the fuel to go and get the pieces. Worth it I feel. After months of not losing any weight, I’m focussed now on getting another stone off. I’ve 12 pounds to go…
Also re jigged my budget ‘money pot’ app headings yesterday to put the pots where I’m effectively in debt to the top to focus my attention. Currently they are the house move fees and house spends but will also include an unplanned holiday this week when the deposit goes out as we saw a good deal and went for it!DFW (08/08) £64,346.53 Gone (02/19)

I'd *very* much like to lose 12lbs ... I'm definitely in the overweight category now on the BMI chart, and 12lbs would take me out of it again.
A good deal on a holiday! Yay! Can I ask where you'll be going?2023: the year I get to buy a car5 -
Half way through the week already and I’ve managed to not spend a thing from the weekly spends which I’m pretty chuffed about.YouGov seem to be having a mare with payments so I’ve been emailing for a while and finally got a response today that they have to do manual payments. All for £2.45 direct payment. In the ‘nothing much happens’ part of the month financially.Ploughing through the house work though. Need to tick off some of the quick wins for a month or so, so that I can get the house pot back into credit from the house move that didn’t happen.DFW (08/08) £64,346.53 Gone (02/19)

I do loathe the dead zone at this point in the month! I seriously considered moving some payments so I could spread out the joyful moment of the Tilly Tidy but then I told myself not to be ridiculous. Still tempted thoughSave £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £9586.01 out of £6000 after August (158.45%)

Got stuck in to Martins Instagram this morning and after checking various things, I was reading about the help to save account. I checked for both of us and we were both eligible so I’ve opened up one each. Plan to just transfer the money from premium bonds each month over as the guaranteed 50% return was too good to miss.Tax codes checked. Have chased up the PPI tax rebate which is 9 months overdue now.Pretty successful start to the day I reckon.Day at home pottering.washing on reading to peg out. Hoping to do some gardening later.DH currently obsessed with the smart meter. We managed £2.46 yesterday. We only have electric so that’s our power costs totally.DFW (08/08) £64,346.53 Gone (02/19)

Good for you - I'm currently missing out on so many offers with working on the stupid but necessary double glazing clearance. I had a built in loft ladder at my previous house, by the way, and it was brilliant, so easy compared to the present day faff. There were also a few memorable moments, because I had cats in those days and one of them climbed up to the loft with me. Hilarious chaos ensured2023: the year I get to buy a car5

pretty sure the dog will attempt the climb up to be honest KC.Bumper day on prolific again yesterday and £17 waiting to clear on there. Had a sort through of finances yesterday. Have cleared the house move Funds through juggling stuff around. Also unexpected bill of £270 for the car but have the pennies to cover it.Feel like a lean month or two is needed just to let the dust settle in our accounts. I’ll find DH other house stuff to do I reckon rather than stuff that requires purchases.Beautiful day out there already today.
