I've been doing a tour of the parks i can think of so the kids don't get bored of the same one. The added bonus is i get to sample the different ice cream vans...

Anyone got the Sant@nder 1-2-3 account - really tempted to change..

I switched (very reluctantly) in Jul 13, so 2 full years now, and then more recently got the 123 credit card. We have earned, in cashback and interest, £721 so far! I was very loyal to my old bank but I got sick of mystery charges on the account and no interest at all.

Our bills are fairly low but we still easily make over £2 in cashback, plus it's normally fee-free for the first year. I also got cashback from TCB. The biggest thing for us is the interest. We had all of our savings in an ISA before but then rates went down to 0.1% so now it's mostly in the current account making money! Since getting the credit card, we make about £9-10 a month in cashback as OH does a lot of travelling for work.

If you get the credit card though, remember to go through TCB again as I stupidly forgot. :) We just pay it off in full each month and use it as a debit card.

Have you used the calculator to make sure you will be in profit?
    Mortgage (Start Sep 2014)- £70,295/£0 - 100%
    Overpayments - £48829.37 :j:j:j

  • Yes Amy, I would be about £60 a year. Our water and electric company isn't covered, but council tax and telephones, mobiles are.

Been tweeting with them today to clarify a few things and will do the transfer tonight through TCB of course!

Transfer to Sant@nder done and cashback of £35 hopefully tracking! They've accepted the application, so that is good. I'm frickin nervous of this all going ok though!

Noticed they have good accounts for little people as well, so will think about that in due course. We owe the kids about £5k which we used to help clear the loan and although the plan is to repay that after the mortgage is clear, I'd still like to start building some savings for them.

Just moved some money from the fuel account as it's got too much in there from economical use of the car lately, so month in hand fund up to £271, payment of £35 of to CC2, leaving a balance of £1362,69 and next mortgage OP is up to £25.50 now.

If I have any energy I want to start looking at telephone / broadband packages tonight.. we are soo limited with the naff broadband options provided in the rural parts where we live.

Good stuff on the 1-2-3 and cashback from it. Ooh if kids accounts are good, might be another option for me for DS for January.

You're well organised with splitting money too and keeping track of it. :)

It's 1% on balances over £300. I really haven't looked at savings rates too much as I haven't got tons of savings.

I use an app on my phone, so the money is actually in one savings account as a lump sum, but it's split up into 26 different accounts ( I hadn't realised how many there were!)

Water bill paid as it's due and I will need to be super super organised now on my money as I'm not 100% sure what will come out of where then the accounts switch over

great day all round. You made me have another look at santander. On the credit card we'd be looking at a minimum of £86 (but then need to subtract the £24 fee). The current account would get us £56 before the £24 fees over the year.
