I think shakes has summed it up pretty well. Impossible as it is to contemplate ( I am now visualising you all shaking your heads in bewilderment) quite a lot of scots like & trust the SNP. How can this be? How can so many of us have been hoodwinked? Is half the Scottish electorate stupid?
If the SNP were really so incompetent surely the polls wouldn't be showing we will likely return them to govern us next year.
I read the bella article this morning and while it may be true of some Indy supporters it isn't of me. Like shakes outside of this forum & a few close family/friends you would never know where my politics lie.
Please tell me people are not taking Loki's post too seriously ... sheesh I hope no ... if so I will need to give him another ear bashing .... he is a great guy but is currently going through one of his angry phases lol0 -

The other party leaders, ALL of them, may be reduced to ( rather humiliatingly ) scrabbling for list seats because none of them look set to win a constituency seat between them.
I'm not sure what you take from the above ? But most of the Yes movement that was, are intelligent enough to realise that the SNP need a majority in May. Then it's a simple waiting game to see what happens, if anything, after that. Splits and division can wait a while yet. No-one is really interested.
The Yes movement is on a long pause. In May it's SNP v's Labour v's Conservative v's Lib Dems (v's Greens v's SSP v's RISE v's Solidarity). The SNP will likely take near enough half the votes in Scotland. Labour, and Conservatives, reduced to fringe parties like they are in Westminster representing Scottish constituents. In other words, 'minority parties'. Which makes me, far more representative than you of an average 'Scottish voter' in debating terms.
You don't know me at all Hamish. But am sure if we met in real life we'd get on just fine despite the political differences. You'd never know I was an SNP member. Honest.* settles down wrapped in Saltire to watch that Braveheart documentary * <
oh god and that was a joke just in case it goes over heads too.
Ps I imagine you like a Grinchy Scrooge type figure if it's any consolation. Am sure I'm way off though ?
You no heard Loki ?
Och he did a few no bad wee speeches during indy ref with RIC ... he's a rap artist that tends to win a few awards ... fell out with NC publicly
He's alright ... but he's Loki lol0 -

Of course they are Elantan, it's painting a picture that will be looked upon with glee from some. He's entitled to his opinion even though I disagree obviously. Still, if he's looking for publicity & or praise he's certainly getting it with that piece from some corners.0 -

Really?
So you've never been to places like Aberdeen and Inverness?
You know, proper Scotland, rather than the Socialist Republic of Glasweegistan...“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.

Believe me he's getting a lot of stick as well .... think Rab did a reply to him ... he took it on the chin though
If they knew who Loki was they wouldn't be too keen to use him as an example lol
I do like him though ... maybe look at some of his other stuff to get a feel ... not all Yessers are who Loki think we are ...0 -

Really
It's always next time we'll stay home and see some more of Scotland. My hubby is desperate to see more but our time off from work seems to be dominated by visiting family abroad or in England.
You have to admit though, Glasgow is a great city but I do think Edinburgh is prettier.
I have thee most amazing loch on my doorstep and it is spectacular on a sunny warm day. That'll be twice a year :rotfl:0 -

That's strange.. I could've sworn there was a big new shiny structure rising from the Forth next to the old bridge... some kind of expensive useless and not needed 'vanity project' I believe Labour and the Tories said when it was announced ?
I have to ask Hamish. Have things gotten so bad that you're reduced to graphics like these that completely misrepresent history just for forum giggles ? You're an intelligent grinc.. man..;) You surely can't believe that the SNP building a new Forth Road Bridge despite all the hassles, negative wailings in the press and criticisms at the time, came secondary to Gaelic road signs ?
Seriously ? :eek:It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?0 -

To be honest I'd rather have a root canal than live in either one.
I have tried to get along with Glasgow, I really have, but I just find it immensely depressing, very crude and uncouth. And by far the most 'nails on a chalkboard' accent of anywhere in Britain. Worse than Birmingham and that's saying something.
Edinburgh is a wee bit better, certainly more progressive and cosmopolitan, but such a nightmare to get around..... Traffic, that godawful one-way system, full of politicians, etc. All of the day to day downsides of London but few of the benefits.
Not that I'm opinionated or anything....
But seriously I think most of Scotland looks on the small fraction of our nation that is the central belt with the same bemused thoughts most people in the UK think about London and the SE.
It's just not really the real World for most of us, it's a remote, detached, inwards looking bubble full of politicians that understand nothing about the majority of Scotland.
We sort of understand why people would live there, if they absolutely had to, for work...
But just can't fathom why anyone would choose to live there if it wasn't absolutely necessary.
For much of Scotland Glasgow feels as foreign a place as London, we just have nothing in common culturally or socially, which might explain why (with the sole exception of Dundee) the referendum results were so different between the Glasgow area and the rest of the country.“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.
