no, the SNP government can chose to reduce spending and practicing living with a balanced budget in Scotland
it could even reject the 3,000 per family english subsidy but not lets be ridiculous0 -
YouGov, like most of the pollsters, hasn't updated its methodology since the election to reflect modern patterns of turnout. However IIRC the polls were pretty accurate in Scotland.
Just because your mates aren't voting UKIP doesn't mean nobody is I guess. It seems on the high side to me too but that might simply reflect the small part of the sample from Scotland if it's a UK-wide poll. If the sample was 2,000 people you'd expect perhaps 180 from Scotland. To get to 8% you'd only need 14 or 15 UKIPPers.
I'm guessing sample bias.
Yougov has indeed modified it's methodology since the election. Of course they have.. they got it wrong. They've modified it in order to take into account turnout differential between Labour and Conservative voters. This means Labour and 'others' which include the SNP ) are downweighted in their most recent UK wide ( not Scottish only ) polls.
Their Scottish polls were accurate because they were Scottish only. UK subset's aren't. And there have been some noises recently among pollsters about UK polls not being used anymore as the political differences getting too variable to measure. Go to 'England + Wales' and 'Scotland' polls.
UKIP are nowhere politically in Scotland. It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?0 -

I haven't any wrath other than for those who pretend Scotland hasn't been anything but a willing parter in the building of the national debt.0 -

However, the UK being out of the EU, will be a breeze will it ? You don't make sense. Sorry.Scotland is not a country in any way shape or form (except semantically) it has no currency, no means of fiscal governance, no sovereignty - I know this is what you want eventually but it's nit clear to me how you want this to look and how you will get tgere
Totally separate issuesIt all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?0 -

No choice to do anything else. Frankly ( nods to a certain Twitter account).

Has there been a modification to account for the fact that people are more likely to say they'll vote for independence than actually go through with it?0 -

Yes, despite all the protestations from the SNP the UK continues to overspend.
Don't do Twitter so I'm not in on the in joke.0 -

Yougov got the 45/55% correct(ish) on the day of the referendum. Their Scottish poll methodology is fine. It was Labour/Conservative they were way out with during the General Election. Scottish polls were more or less accurate from all pollsters. A BIG SNP win and record breaking swings. And so it proved. It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
