Your ignorance is truly astounding. No wonder the SNP have so much support
I don't think I was saying the Danish model was perfect, is any? But I think the salary is relative to the higher costs. If that makes me fiscally illiterate then so be it.
I had no idea I was expected to have a degree in economics to post here or even vote without ridicule. If it makes you feel good to belittle me then that says more about your character than mine.0 -
I see no point in forcing large groups of people to be part of the Union when they see no future in it.
We have much greater austerity to go through than the current program. It's going to be tough enough, but having millions of people actively believing they deserve more than the rest of us is only going to lead to division and resentment.
The referendum and associated promises solved nothing. It's clear there are a lot of people very bitter about the result.
Kabayiri, I think this statement is where the anger and bitterness stems from. Some people think we already get too much and we're whinging about wanting more or deserving more. Nothing could be further from the truth. To break away meant we wanted Scotland to be in control of her destiny so no control from Westminster & nobody organising our finances. And no subsidy of course :-)0 -
Powerful speech by!@AngusRobertson. Finishes pointing out 2 of 59 Scottish MPs will vote for airstrikes and 72% of Scots oppose.!#SyriaVote
It's voodoo polling. If there is no control in place to make the sample representative of the population at large then it's completely meaningless.
Imagine going to the SNP conference and asking people for their views on independence. It's hardly likely to be representative of the Scottish population at large. To use this online strawpoll as being somehow representative of the views of Scots is risible.0 -
Absolutely disgusted with the SNP performance in the house today.
Playing party political games with a matter of national security was appalling.
Particularly when polling data, including the most recent - today's Yougov poll, shows more Scots support military action against ISIS in Syria than oppose it.
What happened to the SNP promising to represent all of Scotland and not just the minority who voted for them?
Disgraceful behaviour - sickening really.“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.

I'm hoping for a 'No' vote for staying in the EU, which will then trigger another Scottish referendum. Hopefully resulting in a 'Yes' vote to leave the UK. A double whammy of great decisions (IMHO)
I'll just leave this here then.
02 December 2015Voters in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland might give enough support for the UK to stay in the European Union, even if a majority of voters in England want to leave, a new report has found.
NatCen Social Research looked at current polling on David Cameron's proposed referendum on EU membership in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland ...
....Should the vote in those three countries be in line with current polls, a small majority in England voting to leave the EU of between 50-52.4% would still result in an overall majority in favour of staying, the report said.
Meanwhile, just a slightly bigger shift towards leaving in England could overturn much larger majorities for remaining in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, it found. It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?0 -

To have an SNP MP quote an absolutely worthless self selecting internet poll as fact or as being representative of the views of Scotland in the HoC is little short of a national disgrace and completely disrespects the British and International victims of ISIS, not to mention the Scottish people.
The SNP contingent have become an embarrassment to Scotland.
And they have betrayed the people of Scotland by choosing party political games and the appeasement of ISIS over national security and standing by our allies.“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.

The current situation does seem very strange. Labour seem to be having a free vote where you lose your job if you vote against Mr Corbyn's views.
As for the SNP, I suspect they have a strategy that wild horses wouldn't drag them through the lobbies with the Tories on any matter. It does seem to be a weird belief that not trying to fight people that want to kill you is going to make you safer than fighting them and actually taking the step of actively trying to prevent the military from doing so.0 -

I'm pretty disgusted with some of the other parties MP's. So we're even there. The SNP won in 56 out of 59 constituencies. ( You lost, get over it ).. Ian Murray is also voting against airstrikes. People knew what they were voting for re the SNP and their history in being against recent military interventions. They got more votes than the Tories did. So they represent more people's views.
The Yougov poll is a subset sample and has UKIP in Scotland on 8%. Very unlikely. The 72% poll is far more likely to be representative.. it is in my circles anyway. And anyway, the 72% poll is in all the Scottish newspapers, so it must be true.......It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?0
