Every action will create a reaction. You never know England may vote for Independence itself one day. Just let the nationalists of the other nations get on with it.
Did you read the short blog I posted from the Scottish MP?
I don't think anyone would have a problem with purely English matters but this is a grey area. If a vote will have an impact through funding or other implications for other parts of the UK then it is not an English only matter. Are you convinced this will be 100% adhered to? I'm not.
It is also the UK Parliament for all MP's from all areas. it is not an English only parliament.0 -

Quite.
However as the UK parliament is progressively being stripped of numerous powers and responsibilities with regards to Scottish affairs, then it's only right that the elected representatives of England should gain similar powers over their own affairs without threat of Scottish interference.
The SNP clearly want EVEL.
If they didn't they'd have maintained their longstanding commitment not to vote on England only matters.
A commitment which ended this year with their threat to vote on Fox Hunting and Salmond's attempts at Blackmail over Heathrow runways.
If any Scots are upset over EVEL, they have only the SNP to blame for it.“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.

You'll disagree no doubt, but I have a feeling there is link between Scotland's apparent progressive inclinations and the fact that someone else is paying for it. If Scotland were ever to return to a situation where they could only spend what they raised themselves then I think you'd see a different mindset take hold.
I have feeling a Federal UK would be a financial disaster for every other country except England.“Britain- A friend to all, beholden to none”. 🇬🇧0 -
A wee step closer to independence today I see ... although I am admittedly annoyed ( although I used less delicate terms on twitter ... just await a telling off from Nicola lol) with the people that voted No
But indy is closer so all's good I spose0 -

By the logic of Mr Sheppard then England should be voting on huge swathes of Scottish reserved subjects.
This is an obvious outcome of Scottish nationalism. The West Lothian Question has always been a problem but the more power Scotland has the more of a problem it is.
If you want 'freedom' from England then that also has to mean that England has 'freedom' from Scotland. That may ultimately have some impact on the flow of money from the taxpayers of London and the South East to Scotland.
While we're on the subject of matters fiscal it looks like the English subsidy to Scotland will continue to climb:

No wonder Ms Sturgeon is in no rush to have another referendum on Scottish independence! Londoners are now subsidising the Scottish oil industry.0 -

Scotland's funding hasn't been cut.
It's risen in both cash terms and real terms every year for the last 4 years, and is now at the highest level ever.I wonder what Hamish & Skint feel about EVEL and its implications, care to respond any of you?
EVEL is absolutely the right thing to do.
It poses no threat to Scottish funding (as it specifically excludes matters which impact on the Barnett settlement), and prevents the SNP (or any other Scottish MP's) from trying to blackmail parliament on close votes that affect England only.
Scottish MP-s should have no right to vote on matters like Fox Hunting, Heathrow Runways, etc.
Salmond's days of mischief making on England-Only matters are over.“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.

although I am admittedly annoyed
Why on earth would you be annoyed if the English decide to assert some of the same responsibilities for determining their own affairs that Scotland has had for ages?
I mean really, the hypocrisy of you lot is absolutely breathtaking.“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.

I'm not annoyed with the English at all dear Hamish , they are looking after their rights ..... I'm annoyed with No voters ... we didn't have to go through this crap if only we voted correct last year0

If we had voted Yes last year we'd be a bankrupt, failed, state in less than 36 months.
Greece without the sunshine.
If you think EVEL disadvantages Scotland you have only yourself to blame.
I would much rather abolish the Scottish Executive and revert to Westminster control entirely, with no EVEL or SVSL, where all representatives of the UK parliament can vote on all UK laws.
But absent that, if there is to be a division of powers, it was madness to expect the English wouldn't eventually want the same thing.

the NO voters were more concerned with their families and living their own lives rather than simply obsessed with single minded hatred of the English
but that's Scotland for you: 300 years of inferiority complex, dependency culture and chip on the shoulder
sad and rather pathetic really0
