Not feeling the love at all folks. What happened?........:-(
How liking/disliking a song can so easily be twisted into an anti scots rant. Sad.0 -

Not as sad as Labour vice-chairmen of local parties advocating that Labour voters, vote Tory in order to keep the 'nats' out. Dear lord. Has Scottish Labour really come to this.. Vote SNP get Tory ! ..but in some area's vote Tory anyway ! Lets get the Tories 6 more seats in Scotland using Labour votes. Because that will keep the nats out. That's a plan and a half right there...
I think some have taken this myopic SNP=Bad thing just a little too far. It'll backfire.It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?0 -

I would expect a rise in Tory support in Scotland over the long term anyway. The traditional Tartan Tories will soon come home to UK conservatism when they realise that the SNP is now the party of the great unwashed of the central belt.
I wonder how many potential Yes voters voted NO as soon as that as Sheridan fella started going on about English Tories and social justice.“Britain- A friend to all, beholden to none”. 🇬🇧0 -

'anyone but the English' is a disgrace to those that act it; the lack of vocal and widespread opposition is a disgrace to Scotland.
singing songs is universal and many 'celebrate' ' brutal ' wars/victories and they often do have lovely tunes;
but the many people of Scotland who expressed a preference for Flower of Scotland to be an unofficial anthem to represent what is best about Scotland, are a disgrace to themselves: that lack of opposition is a disgrace to Scotland.
I do not express 'love' for those attitudes, any more that I don't express for similar views in other nationalistic peoples. When in Germany I don't go to bars where popular songs form the 30s and early 40s are song with gusto, no matter how good or stirring the tunes are.
The tolerance by most of the Scottish posters here (only a joke, lighten up, lovely tune, no worse that brutal 18th century English ruling class, some of my best friends are English etc) is a sad reflection of their views but shows a lot of affinity to many other sad groups over the world.0 -

Who exactly are these Scottish posters here of which you speak ?0 -

TBH the worst thing about Flower of Scotland for me is that it's so pathetic. Is it really the case that Scots want to frame themselves with reference to what amounted to a fleeting victory over the English?0
