The only benefit Scotland brings to the UK is Faslane.
Nicola Sturgeon looked and behaved like a rhinoceros - head down and charge before taking in all the facts.0 -

It's quite something that SNP, this small insignificant party ( at least a year ago they were) is causing such waves throughout the UK.
I'm not alone in feeling glad they are.
Aye i'm sure many people figured out a while ago this would happen, but hey we need to remember that as a majority this is what we want ....
oh and Clapton I hate flower of Scotland, and refuse to stand for it, have walked out of places when i hear it tbh ... but you need to remember god save the queen aint exactly innocent itself look at verse 6 for example
Lord grant that marshal wade,
May by thy mighty aid,
Victory bring.
May he sedition hush,
And like a torrent rush,
Rebellious Scots to crush,
God Save The Queen.
not exactly oozing love is it0 -

Also there's no evidence that anyone has ever sung it nor have I ever heard it apart from written on the internet or on one of those QI-style 'fancy that' programs.0 -

Ha! Thanks for the love :-)
Something to ponder from Nicola.

of course it exists
The Scots people support and actually voted for the ballad in the 21st to represent what they think is the very very best of modern Scotland.
Virtually none of the English even know the 18th century wade verse exists, certainly have never voted it a national anthem and all would be appalled to sing that on an important national occasion.
Sadly that's the different careless racism/nationalistic jingoism and decent tolerance and co-operation between people of a common sovereignty.0 -

So a verse that almost nobody has heard of and is never sung exists. It's this sort of argument that I find very reassuring about Scottish Nationalism. It won't take the Scots people long to work out what a ridiculous bunch you are.
Oh no! Not the Marshal Wade verse thing again!

Do I have to go to all the trouble of pointing out that George Wade was only in a position to crush the "rebellious Scots" for a few short months, utterly failed to do so, and that it was the Duke of Cumberland who actually did crush the "rebellious Scots", and that the crushing off the "rebellious Scots" was at least partly carried out by the Scots, there being more Scots in the Hanoverian army than there where in the Stuart army?0 -

Pleasure... pity they didn't vote yes. They would have crashed and burnt.
The only alternative Nicola offers is a pipe dream. There is no magic money tree that's going to give her the billions that she wants.
Eventually, just like all other Socialists, she'll run out of someone else's money.0 -

A complaint about the the Daily Record.. by a pro-indy website has been upheld. Numerous newpapers followed the same narrative.. but the Daily Record was the one who 1 ) Headlined the original 'Vow' and then 2 ) Headlined and trumpeted once again 'Vow Delivered'... then went onto grossly misrepresent it and the financial aspects.
Can I suggest that you look past newspaper headlines for the actual implications of 'further devolution' ? As it does seem that you are a bit stuck on this notion that the Smith commission was some kind of 'game changer'. When actually it was a really damp squib in terms of, well, anything much. And newspapers ( especially the most pro-union ones) have a tendency to exaggerate the real implications.. as seen..
Am sure there are more than a few newspapers going through the archives just now to see just what they wrote too. I'm not posting a link, as it should be relatively easy to work out who made the complaint and see the full judgements. Half of Scotland certainly will anyway.. No-one likes being lied to after all.
There wasn't any substance to this vow the Record was talking about. They seemed to have mostly invented it from the obvious terror the main parties were experiencing that Scotland was going to vote Yes. it was otherwise pretty vague.
Anyway, it was the Sun wot won it.0
