1) Lower oil prices mean Scottish oil revenues have dropped significantly
2) The Scottish subsidy from Westminster has not dropped
3) The combo of 1) and 2) mean the effective subsidy is even more generous than it was
4) The SNP fan bois are still not happy, so they are directing their ire towards the victimisation of the glorious 56 by the Westminster hordes - expect more discussion of "broken promises" ; "unjust treatment" etc
5) They will never be happy
..that's about it really.0 -

Not yet. We're only 4,500 posts in so give it time.0 -
accepting that the SNP don't want the bedroom tax, but as the democratic processes to date mean that they have the lump it (i.e. scots voted to be part of UK, UK voted for a conservative majority) cant hey not find a way to nett the effect of it in some other way.
I.e. the bedroom tax must still be applied, but then could they not have under local council powers or similar a special 'nett off' payment back to the individuals effected via some means - e.g. deductionm in council tax, special payment, brown paper bag etc.?
Of course they would have to find a way to fund this, both the payments themselves and the administration but if this is what the scottish people want then thats what they should do. Of course it would mean a deduction in expenditure elsewhere or a special tax levy applicable in scotland only to pay for it.
The SG already offset the bedroom tax, no one in Scotland pays the bedroom tax apart from the SG, I think the plan was to do away with it so that the Government could use that money for something better0 -

Scotland is so fortunate to have excess funds. That option is not available to any region south of the border. If I don't reply to your post,
you're probably on my ignore list.0 -
Oh we dont have excess funds, we have to cut back other things that we would rather not ... but my advice to you would be get your country to do the same, just because we can sort our money and pay our bills doesnt not mean your country cant... and it certainly shouldnt be something you criticize more something you say right how can we get ours like that ...
go on take action ... dont just sit there and moan cause others do what you choose not to0 -
You could always ask John Swinney to take control of your money, he manages to balance the books always and George doesnt seem to manage at all ... not sure he would be willing to mind you0
-
you could have them too ... you choose not to though so ..... and we cut back on a lot of thi ngs so the bill gets paid ... you know how that goes, you get your wages... you work out how much your bills are then you rob peter to pay paul ... only done on a country wide level0

Oh we dont have excess funds,
Indeed.
We spend around £15bn a year more than we take in.
While it is true that the whole UK runs a deficit as well, if we kept our deficit proportional to the UK level as a percentage of GDP, we would have an £8bn per year hole in our finances.
That £8bn per year is a direct subsidy to Scotland, by the taxpayers of the rUK, so the SNP have no reason to be celebrating any sort of fiscal responsibility.go on take action ... dont just sit there and moan cause others do what you choose not to
One of the actions 'they' could take is to stop subsidising Scotland with all this extra money....
Which would in turn force Swinney to cut an amount roughly equivalent to the entire council and local services spend from the Scottish budget each year in order to truly "balance the books".
I doubt that's what you had in mind though.....;)“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.
Belief in myths allows the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought.”
